Urgent Advice Please - Beak Broken

Morning LadyC and Captain, I hope Caps vet visit is going or went well and that he's a bit better today. It's comforting to know he's with you and will be well looked after, It could have been so much worse for him if he hadn't found his way to you!
 
Good morning all. Hectic morning! My youngest has woken up with a sickness bug.

Anyway, took me 2 hours to get through to the vets! They can't see Captain until 5:40pm but asked them to tell the avian vet of my appointment time in case he manages to work some magic and get him over earlier. Have moved his favourite perch down level with his food and water and the first thing he did was have a huge drink. Such a relief. Have given him fresh soft food so hoping he'll give that a go. He didn't freak out when I put my hands in either which is great as I was really worried about doing it. Also... I found his beak!

As for his vitamins, he is on a lot. He was so defiencient in everything when his blood tests came back that I felt he needed them for a while. Once he is a bit fitter I will cut them down.

gosh thats a shocking sight. Good luck with appt this afternoon. its great he has had a drink. An idea- my Sophie is not keen on pellets but she does really like the harrison power treats- in fact all my birds do. could you get some of those and make them into a wet mash for him? they do seem a highly desired food so might be well accepted.
child ill too,not good. and you aren't far off your own delivery either are you? all I can say is surely things must get better soon !

Poor love! Glad he's drinking and seems ok. Blimey that's a fair bit of beak that came off in one go. Bet you'll be keeping it!

Poor captain! That must have been such a shock. I hope you're doing OK and that it goes well at the vets. Can't add anything more than what has already been said by everyone! Glad he is eating and drinking. Whatever happens it will all work out fine in the end! Good luck x
 
Wow Ladyc it looks like a crab claw bless , as long as he's eating and drinking that's the main thing .Let us now Ladyc how you and Captain get on it was a very frightening time for you both last night my heart did go out to you both .Any idea if your having a boy or girl changing the subject hehe [emoji4]

Yes @Shirley... a little girl! Her name will be Athena Eden Lynne. I will then have 3 girls and a boy.

Captain has just had some of his soft food which is great! He also washed his face in his water and spent about 10 minutes cleaning his beak. I noticed that as well as cleaning it on his perch, he also stuck it between the bars at the back of his cage and rubbed. That is where the main blood splatter was so I now suspect that is how he did it! He has also been trying to preen his feathers which is a good sign. He climbed round his cage using just his claws. I think he will be fine. Of course he will... he's CAPTAIN AMERICA [emoji23][emoji23]. Just took some more pictures of him...

Captain America looks to have a little smile bless him , give him an extra head scratche from me please aww , pleased he's eating and drinking and getting around he's already adapted quite well which is good news let us know how you get on . bless .Congratulations bet you can't wait and what a lovely name you have picked as well Ladyc .

I've seen that! Crazy what they can do these days.

He has just given himself another face wash. My eldest was sat next to him at the time and got a nice shower at the same time!
