Urgent Advice Please - Beak Broken

Your having a hard time recently haven't you Captain?, but you must be happy, bright eyed, playing with toys and I think your feather condition has improved from that first night. You do look a little surprised but certainly not depressed IMHO. You show them Captain, you are made of strong stuff and with ladyc's help, you will make it.
I absolutely agree @Kendra! His feather condition is lovely and I'm sure it won't be long until they are all grown back. He is doing amazingly well. He will get through this. I will not let this little boy down xx

ladyC I think you are doing right by leaving matters to the morning. the stress of giving him painkillers would almost certainly be worse then the discomfort and as it has only just happened if he put up a fight it may well start it bleeding again. You are doing all the right things.
my only other opinion is make sure the room is pleasantly warm as birds who are shocked find it harder to keep warm.
poor darling I do hope he is ok . but how fortunate he is that he is with you who will do right by him and not out in wild or with a neglectful owner. crossing my fingers for you both.

Do you have any colloidal silver in the house? Its a natural antibiotic that you can use internally or externally you can pop it in the water or alternatively use it as an antiseptic cleaner

If he's sleeping I'd leave him alone. he's probably had a bit of a shock and will help himself best by sleeping it off, so leave him to sleep and access him in the morning after he's eaten. the edge of the break may be a bit sore for a few days, but he'll learn how to adapt to eat with your help. XX

I have been giving him this since he arrived with me Tascha, only with Guardian Angel, and Daily Essentials 3.

You are most probably better equipped to deal with it then the practice wanting to charge £175 to do a prescription! They need a have a word with themselves, that's extortionate.

bear in mind he does not know how bad it is, he doesn't know looks bad and he won't be worrying about future. Although it certainly will have hurt I doubt very much if he is as upset as you are. The most painful part of this episode is over, providing nothing untoward happens infection wise he will be in far less pain tomorrow, and less still the day after.

He definitely does @Bob. Do you think he will have any issues getting around his cage?

Only just seen this. Poor little dude! Thinking of you both, and also reiterating what had already been well said. Ruby is a great example, so at least you know he'll be okay. You're doing all the right things in keeping him warm and calm, and getting him pain meds and antibiotics tomorrow. Xxxx

I have two birds with broken beaks but this has never caused them any long term problems did have my conure that broke its beak at the same time as bobs bird. the beak grew back and apart from getting a very blunted end instead of a point you cannot see that he had a problem. Sky my Budgie has very little left of his top beak but copes better than my other budgies and is loved by all my flock.

Daily essentials seems to come in three types number 1, 2 and 3! We'll go for 1 which has the following in it
Vitamins A, D3, E, K, B12, C. Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Riboflavin, Thiamine, Pyridoxine, Folic Acid, Choline Bitatrate, Biotin. Minerals include Magnesium, Zinc, Sulphur, Iron, Cobalt, Copper, Manganese, Selenium, Iodine

Guardian Angel has the following in it ...
Vitamin A 377,000ius, Vitamin D3 47,700 ius, Vitamin E 943mg, Vitamin K, Vitamin B1 (Thiamine), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine), Vitamin B12, Biotin, Choline Bitartrate, Folic Acid, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Vitamin C. Minerals include: Selenium, Iron, Cobalt, Manganese, Copper, Magnesium, Zinc, Sulphur, Sodium, Iodine, Potassium, Calcium, Allicin Concentrate, Glucose Polymers, Nucleotides, L-Carnitine Tartrate, Freeze Dried Beneficial Bacteri L. casei casei 40 mil cfus/gram, E. Faecium 120 mil cfus/gram

That's a heck of a lot of vitamins you giving. The liver will store vitamins A, D, K and B12 along with other bits and bats like iron, fats etc. While your at the vets have a chat about the vitamin intake personally if I had to I would pick one or the other but not both for fear of over loading on the ones that are stored - I use nutrobal which has everything in it but don't add anything to that. The colloidal silver I use as an antiseptic. Tell the vet your giving colloidal silver all the time as this will have a bearing on anything they prescribe also about anything else you add.
