Hi, Thank you for adding me to your forum. I'm Fiona and I'm Mum to Spike an Umbrella Cockatoo. I've had him since he was 15 weeks old, I finished his weaning and transitioned him on to every day food. He is 17yrs old now. He gets my undivided attention, and in return he gives a lot of affection. I have a question though....On Wednesday I went to feed him and there in his cage was an Egg, so obviously He is now a She, which I find bizarre. Why has it taken so long to lay an egg? Is there anything I need to do.
Thanks for reading

Hello and Welcome yes I would advice you to add calcium to her diet to replenish her. can I ask what do you feed her, but the laying of the egg now is one sign that she is in good health, I have a Umbrella as well called Lou Lou. she is one loving characterView attachment 26956

:welcome: Fiona and Spikella from me and my flock. As mentioned a calcium supplement could be beneficial, yo can buy Calcivet and sprinkle a little on her food. We would love to see a photo of Spikella  @Spikella's Mum

if i want to have an argument that i know i cannot win there is none better than me arguing with my Lou Lou, Spikella look so lovely and now i know how hard it is to stop saying he instread of she.
