Only skimmed this thread but welcome.
I have 2 OWA boys Rocky and Lex.
First thing i would suggest is a visit with an avian vet for a full check up and blood work done including psittacosis and PBFD. DNA aswell if not already. Microchipping i always suggest. I prefer to get mine to the vets as soon as i can and get it out the way for them so it doesnt put any trust built back.
My 2 owas love foot toys. Lex prefers things you need to think about - believe hes my old man of the 2. Rocky is 06 rung and he likes anything he can destroy or throw on the floor.
Palm fruit is a big hit with both of them as are cashews and walnuts. Any fresh foods always go down a treat.
Rocky took 6 months to really start settling in with me but he had a lot of homes in his past and i took him on after his aviary mate died so it was already a stressfull time for him.
Lex on the other hand settled really well very quickly. He doesnt step up but he will go into carry cage with a little persuasion which is fine for me. Rocky will fly to me for treats but hes a lot harder to get in a carry cage lol.
If you look on scarletts website she has a bunch of toys on there. Its where i get most of mine from. I also buy the as no sunflower no peanut mix from there.
