Evening all, just wondered if anyone around manchester/ Lancashire area knows of any local meetings indoors where our birds can socialize and make new friends?
We have a blue and gold macaw called Sophie, she's 17 months old.

The Parrot Society have some area groups, so you might check with them.
The issue with bird meet ups is biosecurity, and whether all birds have current health check, disease testing

Hi and welcome to the forum will move this into another folder as will get lost in this one :) will tag you so you can go straight to it
The thing to remember with socialisation is that you need to ensure that all the birds going are disease tested to ensure that all of you get to play safe.

Thanks for the replies, we looked into having her tested at start of this year so she could go to a local girls house who runs a resue while we went away, we didn't have it done in the end as we were still bonding and didn't want her falling out with us for pulling feathers, after new year I will get her booked into be tested..
Yes she is in the pub :) my Mrs works behind the bar and if no one in at the end of the night I take Sophie when I pick her up, she loves getting out of the house.

Hi everyone. No clubs these areas that i know of. Parrot Society might be your best bet x
Why not start your own, if you have a spare room at the pub and it's bird friendly it could work?

Thank you, I think I might set one up after new year and see how it goes, our house is easy to find in rochdale and we have a 10 x 15 meter back garden that I can cover with netting for get togethers, be nice to find maybe a horse arena where they can have a good fly around inside and not have to fear losing them, I'm sure my mum will know somewhere as she has horses.
Thanks for all the input so far, it's a great place here :)

@paul morton if the indoor dressage arenas are anything like they are over here in East Yorkshire heaven help anybody free flying in there … they all seem to be about 30ft plus high with steel beams that are totally unreachable :risas3:

Yeah need somewhere with a suspended ceiling, massive function room or something. Sophie was at the top of a tree once and she wouldn't come down I had to go up for her..
