Hi my irn parrot is mad as hell I sit next to his cage he has plenty of toys and perches but he won’t come anywhere here me I’ve only had him a mth and half ho sits up the top of the cage sometimes get brave and comes over to me so I talk to him and he growls I’m using the clipper to train for treats and he won’t take anything off me he now comes up to the side I’m sitting at the top and growls this started today as I was getting nowhere with connecting through the cage I thought I’d let him out

@Loop likely he''s nit hand reared and is parent reared a harder one to become friends with but when you do become friends its an awesome bond. Time and patience. He perhaps doesnt understand what the clicker means and naturally has fear of it. -

@Loop maybe work out the distance from him that he doesn’t growl or fly away,leave treat there and walk away let him take it by himself, we’ve done it with one of mine IRN because she was very scared of us when we got her -

@Nyle pearce its not personal and birdie doesn't know its "owned" by you. What we do is strike up a friendship and build on that. It could be any number of reasons the bird hasn't as yet bonded with you. Time and patience

No child likes bedtime! Bribery and corruption work well lol. A treat for going in that is only ever in there when you want him in. But remember going in should be fun not the end of everything so sometimes going in should mean not being locked in and sometimes it does. Same as crate training for vet visits you have to make it rewarding and not something that happens at "bad times"

Also do you have any tips on me mantaning his cage without getting bitten anything that I touch he gets angry and tries biting like this morning I was just getting him some seeds out of the bad under his cage and he made his way down and bit me

Don't know if I can keep this short lol I got a 3 yr old crimson conure from a sanctuary. Told he was super tame he's not he flew around all day out of a cage since he was a baby they gave him away because of new baby anyway I realised i was doing the wrong thing touching his back so stopped was trying to. Build up confidence anyway I am petrified from him don't know what to do it's only at night he will cuddle in and. I feel calm any other time let him out in the morning bit my face.

So doesn't get out in the morning he nips my shoulders and leg goes on mad wiping beak then trys to like peck the pattern then me he is responding but shouting if I leave the room and tried him out in the afternoon he's ignoring me running up and down hiding behind pillows and pushing his back against one think it's hormonal don't know what to. Do he's 3 had him only since July 4th only one owner a lady
