Hi...moving To Cheltenham From Ontario

Hi Colleen welcome to the forum from me and my gang :) Exciting times ahead.
Thanks! We haven't spent much time in England at all. Many trips to London and we've spent a lot of time in Scotland on vacation. Really looking forward to it!

Hello and welcome. Sorry I do not know much about the dog side of things but I would love to see a photo of your birds. I have 4 Macaws and a female Eccie plus a few other flock members living with me. coming from the states you animals may have to go through quarantine DEFRA may be able to advice you on that side

Thanks Michael! I'll have to try to upload some photos later. You have a large flock! Just to clarify...we are coming from Canada not the US. ;) Thankfully, we aren't required to go through quarantine provided we have all necessary paperwork in order when we arrive. The parrots may have to go through a 30 day quarantine in our home PRIOR to leaving Canada. We have the option of the 30 day quarantine and having the vet come to our home to sign off on the Health Certificate OR have them vaccinated twice 6 months prior to leaving Canada. We aren't sure which option we'll go with yet.

Oh it is beautiful great for walks in the country and of course you got the races Cheltenham gold cup half of Ireland come over for that festival.

Hi Colleen and :welcome:to the forum.
I know Cheltenham very well, as I studied there and have family who live there.

The vet you need is not too far away in Swindon....the practice is called Great Western Exotics, and they are based in the Vet's Now building. It's a straight forward journey from Cheltenham. The practice was set up by one of the most highly regarding Avian vet's in the U.K. Neil Forbes, he retired earlier this year, but the four specialists there have all trained and worked closely with him.
The practice is now headed up by Tom Dutton.

Also there is an excellent professional parrot boarding establishment in Cheltenham, which I can personally recommend too:

The ladies there have experience with all breeds of parrots, use Great Western Exotics, and have excellent bio-security processes, so you can be assured that your birds would be well cared for.

Thanks so much for the info! It will be very helpful.:D

We are really looking forward to it! Next Summer can't come fast enough.;)

I'm quite interested in how you actually move the animals over?

It's certainly going to be quite the process and very expensive! Lots of paperwork and vet visits on our end in the next 10mths!

Welcome to the forum from me, Chewy, Maddie, and Pea. :) I'm sure you'll have a great time seeing more of the UK and Europe, and it's lovely that it's for an extended period so that you can bring your birds and dogs.
