Hello, I know I havent posted in a long time, would you belive that I've had Bobbie my OWA just a few day over the year now, I've also added 1 quaker and 6 GCC  to my folk, as a quick update.

I'd better get on with my question one of my GCC was at the vets this morning and I have to give 0.4ml of baytril twice a day starting at 11 pm tonight. I know its only a very tiny amount but jax is a tiny bird.  Do I have to dribble it in her break or will a quick squirt be ok? Of course I'm worried about chocking. so would be greatfull for info as I have never given a bird meds b4.

Hi Ann, is the birdie tame?

Maybe practice with some sugar free juice in the syringe befor tonight?

That way you may have a better idea how he gonna react n you won't waste it x x

Hi Ann that's what I would do too, mine get their calcivet like that twice a week

I found that if you try to dribble it in the bird will not normaly take much short squerts ifrom the syring normally the best thing to do .  I would like to confirm that it is a golden crowned conure and not a green cheek conure (GC) that has to take the antibacterial baytril.

I give meds using a syringe, I mix the meds with a wee bit of juice and squirt it in small amounts, works a treat :)

Glad to see you back and posting Ann, and wow your flock has got bigger

Mine are so loving the parrot wine I just keep pressing it in and they don't lose a drop greedy burds

Parrot wine is diluted Ribena - not the sugar free stuff - just the regular Ribena that you dilute with water. I have to give Miss Rambo my Red Lored Amazon Baytril twice a day for the next month - she takes 0.05 mL - I mix a bit of parrot wine in a small glass, then pull the Baytril through a syringe  - I use a 1 mL syringe but only pull a small amount of Baytril through the syringe. I then hold the syringe with plunger end down wards and flick the syringe a few times to get the air bubbles out, then I put the syringe over the Baytril bottle and depress the syringe until the plunger reaches the 0.05 mark (in your case the 0.04 mark) and then I place the syringe in the parrot wine and suck up some parrot wine to fill the syringe about a third of the way full.

I give Miss Rambo little bits at a time - too much and she shakes it out all over me - just a bit at a time until it is all gone - then she gets a treat.  At first it was a bit difficult but I made a game out of it and she eventually took all her medication but now she takes it okay without moving her head from side to side several times during the process - time and patience and treats.
