Sleep tight Violet

We awoke this morning and found my mum's budgie, Violet on the floor of her cage :(. We were looking after her whilst mum is on her hols, and yesterday afternoon saw her sat on the floor of her cage all fluffed. We checked on her and then she went up to her perches, playing with her toys and eating/drinking fine so we thought maybe she'd been asleep and we'd disturbed her (Gary will sleep on the floor of his cage, cuddled with one of his toys, so we don't see it as exceptionally unusual) . Then this morning..... gone! We'd said that if she was quiet this morning, we'd get her a checked up at the vet, but she didn't make it.

We've no idea how old she was, she was found in the street badly injured a good few years ago, and we cleaned her up and nursed her back to health. We called her Violet partly because of the beautiful colouring on her back, and partly because she was initially aggressive, so Violet the Violent ;).

That just leaves Squash the finch now, and I'll suggest to mum we'll keep him ourselves as at least he'll have macaws as room mates rather than being alone. He's such a social little guy, but we don't want to start down the road of getting him a friend (his little buddy died a few months ago) as he's about 6 years old now anyway, so he's becoming a little old man himself.
