Please help!! Injured bird

@D

@dianaT hun is there anything you can add please? I will scour the listings I have available.

I have Valley Vet Hospital in Cardiff is this any good to you @Max Middleton
I can also go to a vets near Blackpool. I have a caravan in Fleetwood and I get there often, so if I can’t get into a vet near me, I’ll just go to one in Fleetwood. The birds love going on holiday there anyway

Thank you so much for all your help! It’s really appreciated. I’ve managed to register at the vets I wanted, it’s far away, so I’m going to stay at my caravan for a week and take him in for his appointment. It seems like a really good avian vets. It has over 2,000 reviews and it’s 4.8 stars!!

That is promising hun but please look at the staff and their credentials as we all don't go for the same thing do we?

Hope all will be okay, which vets?
Ashley Vets. It’s far from where I live, but I’m staying at my caravan for the next couple weeks and my caravan is closer to it. It has good reviews so that’s why I really wanted him to go there

@dianaT , what will they do to him at the vets? I tried to ask them over the phone and they didn’t give me an answer. Will he be put under anaesthetic? Do they put resin on the beak? What will they do to him?

The answer to that is the vet will tell you the options upon examination. If he just needs it filing a bit then they do that without any gas, if it just needs a little say splinter removing it will be done with a whiff of gas. They will instruct you as to What the options are if it's with gas you will more than likely go another day as they will want to have his crop empty by him not having access to food for two to three hours beforehand so he isn't sick when he comes round. The gas is the same stuff as they use on human babies all 5 of mine have had it at different times Alfie has been under 3 times, Henni 7 times the only bird I have that has had an issue is one of my African Greys Tuppy turns out she's really sensitive and she was trying to empty her crop for a couple of hours afterwards but as it was empty meant she was kind of reaching anyways she stayed there under observation until she stopped doing it and she was perfectly fine afterwards.

If it's a bit of resin on the outside of the beak to stop it cracking further that probably won't need him being knocked out as it will be smeared on and allowed to dry it just depends on what they can do perhaps they will look and say just leave it be and bring him back in a month for it to be checked and feed softish foods in the meantime

Thank you so much😊

Now no getting yourself stressed about it as birds are sensitive souls and he will pick up on your stress and anxiety and probably get stressed as well
