Wooden Aviary

In my opinion do not get hand reared pet birds they will be unhappy in an outdoor situation, best to buy a breeding pair, folk sometimes give up bird keeping and sell. You may like to join the Parrot Society you can do it on-line its about £22 a year and you receive a monthly mag where breeders advertise. We bought our pair at a parrot society show long time back. They hold shows 2-3 times a year in Stafford, details on their website and in their mags. If you are buying 2 separate birds you need to know their sex to make sure they are a pair, they do not always take to each other, but it's always a risk anyway.

I think 2 males would be fine together without a female and would be maybe more readily available than a breeding pair where you pay the premium for the breeding potential.

I would buy from separate sellers to insure no inbreeding will happen. I do not always trust sellers and rather and even with DNA papers get them sexed myself. I would try to get aviary birds as Marley said as they are more stable with weather changes and more hardy.

All makes sense and good info but I'm beginning to think maybe a blue headed pionus instead of the Senegal, and get aluminium flight of 6ft X 4ft and 6ft high which I could extend later. Maybe get a pair of Pionus. Anyone of experience with this breed.
