Willow branches/perches.

Does anyone know of a company that will supply Willow branches or perches to size ?

i know the natural bird co do it, but they aren't making any till mid next year due to an accident.

I could find it but i'm not 100% what willow is, i've found quite a few brought them home then decided against it as im not 100% sure and just not willing to take the risk.

So really i'm just asking if anyone knows someone or a company that will supply ready made willow or even the branches and i'll make them myself ?

Willow is often found in damp areas by streams/rivers etc. The parrots love it , I used to have a lovely tree but hubby cut it down said it was too big! I don't know where you can buy any though.

Willow is by far the easiest tree to identify its the huge drooping one :) usually by water

Can't think of anybody specifically who sells perches made to size but if you have a look on your local gumtree or somewhere like that usually people advertise wood to take away or if you know of a company that does tree felling and cutting they maybe a good person to contact to ask if you could buy a couple of branches off them.

To make them into perches you just need to buy one threaded bar from B&Q measure the inside of your cage one end to the other cut the perch just slightly (and I mean slightly shorter. Drill a hole in each end of the branch, cut a piece of threaded bar to size hammer it in add a washer to the inside and a washer to the outside and slap a wing nut on.

Alternatively you can buy these which are branch holders you just bend the flat prongy bits to hang on to the bars ....

Probably be able to buy them on ebay as well.

Only other places I can think you speak too is somebody like this I have used a few in the past
You would have to tell them the dimensions that you require ie perfect size for species of bird plus length etc ....

Hey there, where are you based? I make willow play stands and was thinking I might start making perches out of the smaller branches

@DizzyBlue Thank you so much for the info, you are right the reason i thought willow as i believed i could find it easy enough, its not i can't find it, its i just don't trust myself to get it right and as its not really that important i didn't want to take the gamble, im a proper Downey type man, to me a tree, is a tree :)

i do have plenty of rivers near me and ive collected what i think is willow, but just don't want to gamble with the little lad.

I've been making stands and perches for myself and decided to make more to sell on. My only concern with the stands would be that I will have to look into delivery as I live in scotland and they are quite large. Perches aren't so much of an issue in that respect. What type of bird is it for?

Great room freshener i use it every year when it comes into flower
oh good to know, not bird safe branches then ?
it's at the bottom of my garden.

Also i'm now off on a willow walk, i feel you may begetting more pictures later

told the wife it was Lilac and i got this

"Never bring hawthorn or lilac into a house, as they will bring bad luck, and possibly a death, upon those who live there"

do you see what i have to deal with :aplastao::aplastao:;)

Hmmm that's an old saying for May flower and an old Norfolk superstition for white lilac
Yup I've heard those myself

Thank you, if im correct i found possibly 10-12 trees, some of the bigger/older ones didnt look great but i think i found a few younger ones with nice clean branches, anyway below is some others i think are willow but not 100% sure and also some branches we collected from the first one.
