Hello and welcome. sorry to hear of your late wife's parting. it is not uncommon for greys to have anxiety when it comes to new things, i will tag @Roz to see her ideas on training regarding feet

Hi and Welcome from me too. I am so sorry to hear you have lost your wife. It sounds very sudden.
We are a very friendly people on here so feel free if you need advice but also just to chat too. Your Grey obviously feels comfort from you. It will take time for your grey to get use to all the new changes. But you will get there.

What a terrible shock for you and also for the bird.
Hopefully the Greys wings & tail will re grow, and she will eventually become happier.

:welcome: from us too! So very sorry about your wife. How awful! Hope you and your Grey can console each other.

A lot of parrots are afraid of new things. What colour was the old perch? If it was very much lighter than the apple branch, try stripping off the dark bark with a knife. If the branch is fresh, it should be fairly easy to do and will reveal lighter wood underneath. I had the same problem with one of my parrots to begin with.

With the video, try opening a YouTube account (it's free), then post your video there and provide a link to it here.

A lot of birds can be fearful about hands touching their feet (some birds, like my Ollie, are phobic about it), but are ok about touching our faces.... or indeed our hands giving them a head rub. You can easily teach Oscar to step up on a hand held perch instead if you have to move her. Something similar in colour to one she is comfortable with in her cage. Just don't force it, and keep pairing/associating your hands/fingers with wonderful things like treats or favourite toys or even head rubs if she likes them. That way Oscar will begin to look forward to having your hands near her.
