Warning Graffic Injury Photo - Rehomes!

I have several rescue parrots here, some very difficult ones included, I have just been asked by a vet to take an umbrella cockatoo which was apparently bought from a breeder by a friend of the lady who now has it, she took it on because it was too noisy for her friend and was destined for the pet shop to go on the ever turning merry-go-round that is often the cockatoos fate.

This is what it has seemingly  done to it's rescuer as thanks for taking it on, it seems she had to fight it off with a cushion and towel it to get it back in it's cage, she is now terrified to even feed it, wonder why!

I think everyone who wants a cockatoo should see this before they buy one

As it was discovered that this is actually a dog bite the Too is innocent., it was decided to topic edit this thread. We do not believe that Marley knew that this was not a Too bite and in full faith decided to share this image with ourselves as an example.

Sometimes when people want to get rid or move on a bird they aren't exactly honest about the reasons behind it all and the bird may be blamed for things such as causing allergies, the human has decided that they have new work commitments, a baby is on the way, a new partner they want to spend time with rather than make adjustments for the commitment they promised their bird or such things....and sometimes the aforementioned are actually true!

Sometimes we need to take things with a pinch of salt (please remember though salt isn't parrot friendly!!) and give a rehome a clean slate when it comes into our homes.  Yes parrots do bite and yes they can cause some horrible and painful injuries as they are not domesticated animals.  But sometimes the are actually innocent of what they have been accused of please bear this in mind when you take on a bird.

Oh dear, glad the too now has a clear name anyway. I think this is why I love animals so much, if an animal (partot, dog, cat, anything) does something (from biting to asking for attention) it always has a purpose, whereas people continue to astound me everyday.

I have just read this and was not aware nor was my vet, this was a picture emailed to them to support the rehome, I have mailed the vet with this detail, I am not amused...

I can imagine you aren't but it just goes to show everybody regardless of a rehome or a purchase or anything that sometimes people aren't totally honest about things. so when they say the bird is great he talks is it swear words, he goes to everybody errr is that in attack mode, he's very friendly is that only when you have a packet of crisps.

As stated we believe you posted this picture in good faith and for no other reason than to show us what Too's can do :rose:

Things people do.

Why do they even get involved.

A selfish act.

I have seen some ghastly Cockatoo and Macaw injuries, so I know that they are possible, but to fabricate is a very shallow act.

It's a full time job fighting such people.

Poor Too, sad that people have to fabricate stuff like this!!!! keep us updated Marley

its a shame that this injury happened by any animal but the worst injuries to our selves are normally caused by ourselves or other Humans

When I was flying Tinkerbell many many years ago, this chinese guy watched us with such fascination that I offered him Tink to stand on his hand. His withdrawal was so violent and he turned so white that I was very surprised.

He told me he loved those recalls.  That he have a grey that he loved very much. Then he showed me his hand with 3 1/2 finger and thumb.  That his grey taken off half the finger.

No need for 2s or macaws.  As even a grey can take off a finger.

Maybe I should have taken a photo of that gentleman and his hand.

Truth can be stranger than fiction.
