Vegetables

Must admit I don't cut the stalk off, don't think they eat it though..

You could well be right, I know thats the case with tomatoes..

Ruby is so fussy...i try with everything...she loves swede, peas and parsnip.Sweetcorn is ok,cauliflower when in the mood...

Tonight she has some salad stuff, peppers and chili, parsnip, peas and apple.

Shes had the apple.I will leave the plate in all night, see if we have any success.

Same as anything, it's good, but you don't want him to fill up on it, Traff would live on carrots if I let him :)

i can put a good pot full of veg mix in cage and snowy will sit there for a good 15 minutes eating it . then he will eat sum harrisons a while later then go back to the veg pot. he does eat well especially the harrisons now.

but veg. cant beleive how much he does like it and how much he eats of it. but cos hes eating the good stuff as well (harrisons i just let him eat away.

Mine love beans too. I also feed frozen veg, I wouldn`t have the time or money to pay for fresh I don`t think.

I am a veggi and have been for over 50 years so all my birds got used to fresh veg even my dogs like sprouts, where ever you live you should always been able to grow a few veg and with wild greens / flowers there is no reason why you should pay out loads of money to give your birds the best

I'm just wondering what everyone here thinks about / has experienced with feeding cabbage to cockatiels. I was surprised to read in a book on cockatiels that it is not safe for them to eat, and there is conflicting information on the web about this. One thing I haven't found anywhere is an actual reason why they shouldn't have it, so I am inclined to think it's just hearsay. I hope someone can clear this up for me since they seem reluctant to try fruit or vegetables and cabbage is one of the only things they seem to like and they have eaten a fair bit already this week.

Hmm not sure about tails but I feed it to all my birds, they love it

My kak's prefer raw sometimes grate carrots celery by the stick lettuce by the leaf peas out of the pod and dandelyion leaf during summer and autum (not picked from road sides or public places.  they love berries

You can give veg raw or cooked, potatoe should always be cooked. What I do is make up a mix of any cooked veg and add it to either rice or pasta and serve warm. It seems to go down better if served warm :)

Just something I do to get my picky monster to eat veggies is, in the Summer months, I juice some veg (not potatoes), sometimes with a piece of fruit - and freeze the liquid in an ice cube tray. Depending on what you use, it either comes out as juice, or a smoothie.

Ri loves munching on an ice cube (in his bowl) and then gets his veggies as well. Only when it's hot weather though. ; )
