well U2s are way louder than ducorps, hahns can be quite loud too, greys are quite quiet birds in comparison, but they are not the cuddliest of birds when adult.not just my opinion from other adult grey owners :dntknw:

go to http://www.mytoos.com/ and listen to the big guys on there...................................LOUD

ye thats what puts me off another U2. atm my mind is on a grey (baby) so its me bringing it up. even if it bonds to me which it probably will i dont mind lol.

my ducorps are very quiet love em to bits, love to see em preening each other

I would go for a ducorps over a grey everytime!! jmo

ye my too is calming down now hes not being as loud as when i got him. only thing is he wants 24/7 attention from every1. very tame and hates being ignored.

thing is tho debs if i did go for another too its finding a breeder lol very un-common bird .

I know of one................................where I got my two

I know he had 4 chicks.

oh dont tempt me deb lol. there just to bloody expensive ducorps

Hi Gary,

Considering the number of unwanted cockatoos (and so many other parrots) I would try to find one who is in need of a good home and adopt one, instead of buying another baby from a breeder. Ducprps can live for 40 years, so worth bearing that in mand as well. If you and any of your neighbours can cope with the noise, try a C2, but other birds might be worth considering as well.

Best wishes,

only 40 years ? i read in quite a few places they can live for 65 + ??

i may consider adopting one instead of a baby from a breeder. but my ducorp is 5 and i would love to bring one up from baby .

this is why im only buying in 3 months time so i can work out ALL options and pick the right parrot as my other life companion.

any1 know what the best veg is in terms of nutrition ? or is it all good ?

im just giving snowy same everyday which he loves.

peas

cut carrot

green beans

sweetcorn

peice of colliflower and broccoli

red, yellow, green peppers

all frozen stuff and steamed for 10-15 minutes. when i put into his cage he will sit there for a good 15 minutes eating away at it all. i keep close eye and watch

if all this is good stuff i will stick with it why he likes it all so much. if there is better nutritioned veg i can give him i will add to it

:hi:

mine more or less have the same daily getting them to eat dark leafy veg which is supposed to be best for them is hard they just throw it out! I now do it in a mash with their pulses and frozen mixed veg (carrots, corn, peas, beans) that way they are at least getting some I hope :dntknw:

they all LOVE their sprouted seed tho, cheap and easy to do too.

I know people feed soaked seed is that just the sprouted seed mix soaked and not sprouted??

I would add some fresh chillies whole with seeds the hotter the better according to an article in parrots magazine they are a super food and have loads of health benefits my ducorps love em, Jake wont touch em!!

thats them, also hotter ones scotch bonnet etc, you wanna see the girls tuck into them just dont get a kiss after they have eaten them

Hi Kerstin,

my lot have the tidymix pulses soaked over night then cooked. I get scarletts sprouting seed mix but I think you can soak that too and not sprout it just give it them like that but Im not sure lol
