Using a fake hand to get birds used to hands?

So my tiels are lovely, but frightened. I feel like placing a fake hand in the cage would help them overcome their fear of real hands better. What do you all think? I'll go into more detail if needed on why I feel this would be best for my birds.

I have never tried this approach with any of the tiels I have, I cannot see it will make any difference but you have me intrigued on how the experiment goes, can you make the hand be a perch so they will go on it to get there feed. we have training section with some great advice given by Roz

I have two lovely boys. They were aviary kept and raised by their parents. I'll try it and see how it goes. Will post updates. Not sure when the hand will get here since it's through Amazon and sometimes shipping is weird.

Bearing in mind Halloween is approaching I hope it's not one of those fake severed ones!

(Many many years ago when daughters were teens they placed one in the fridge I nearly died when I opened the fridge door!)

I thought of using one of those since they're dirt cheap! Haha. But I opted for a fake hand that beauticians use to practice painting nails on. Thought that would be most accurate. Unfortunately it's very, very pink. So much for realism :p

Hi and welcome @Colourbotic
errr due to the way birds see which is totally different colour system to how we see I would very much doubt that the fake hand would do anything other than cause an issue and if you put it in there and leave it in there and they are scared they you could give them a heart attack
Have a read of threads by Roz in the training folder this one is a good one to start with https://theparrotclub.co.uk/communi...-and-parrots-who-are-fearful-of-humans.29148/ followed by this one https://theparrotclub.co.uk/communi...rcers-and-how-to-identify-and-use-them.29149/
after mastering these two (time and patience so birds take longer to learn than others) then move on to the step up training thread https://theparrotclub.co.uk/communi...-reliable-step-up-and-trouble-shooting.21605/

They're not absolutely terrified. Just nervous. They have stepped up before. I think this will help. I don't know why them seeing colors differently matters either?

My husband brought home a fake hand, it was the type that belonged to the shop models, plaster. We left out on the table and Dusky Grey had no problems with it, he walked past, no nervousness. He did try to bite it but obviously to him it was a fake, so no success for Dusky.
