Still researching and woke up this morning and thought "how do you clean cage toys" (ropes, perches, chew blocks etc)

not sure why this popped into my head at 6am but still a question im not sure about.

How do you clean yours ?

I use hot water and cloth sometimes maybe once a week with F10 in and wipe perches and toys over, do it regularly to stop any nastiness building up. My cages are wiped down every morning always have been.

Yes, I do not everyone does. I also place newspaper on the bottom of the cage tray then roll up dirty layers as necessary.

I find wood and rope a bit of a problem. The colour comes out when in water and at first I threw them away, but that is how it should be, so it is safe for the birds, the toys end up very pale. Just been cleaning my cages, better not offer advice there had I Diana? Diana does know best.

Daily - clean paper and wipe off any obvious marks on perches, cage etc with F10 spray. I use a stiff nail brush and F10 spray on ropes.
Weekly - clean thoroughly with F10, including removing dust and feather dander from the bars on the cage.
As required - strip down (ie remove perches and toys) and clean.

As Dora is out of her cage 95% of the time there is usually more to be cleaned in her other favourite places around the house, but she has learned to go back to the front flap of her cage to poo on paper (most of the time!)

I throw my rope 's into an old pillow case and stick them in the washing machine but without wash powder give am a proper hot wash then out into the sink for a quick spray with F10 and then hang up above radiator (or outside in the summer) to dry.
