Tonya

The other was a yellow crowned named ‘Jerry’ we adopted him when my Aunt migrated to Canada. He sang nursery rhymes and cried and shook his wings (to imitate my toddler cousin’s shoulder-shake cry). They are real characters. It’s easier to keep them in the Caribbean, they had the full run of the garden all year and ate twice their body weight in mangoes, oranges and guava. Here it’s a bit more complicated to keep them, still figuring it out.:emoji_thinking:

How amazing to let them have full run of your garden year round. I also have an elderly Panama Amazon, Chico, which is a sub-species of Yellow-crowned.... so very similar. Jerry certainly sounded like a real character as is Chico. I also have a Red-lored Amazon called Bobbie. All the Amazons were rescues or rehomes.

Oh wow, I know where to look if we decide to get another . He fell asleep on my index finger last night and it was just the sweetest thing! He’s 12 weeks still finding his legs and figuring out his flightpath.
I guess being young he still needs plenty of naps . There is still time for his beak to change colour it will turn black if a hen and by the age of a year he/she will have its final colour, that is unless it has had a DNA test and you were told it's gender.
That beak is defo turning black so I think we have a girl bird :budgie: Excellent since I am outnumbered in a house full of boys!
