I see the organisers are issuing adverts encouraging people to take their birds along to the show, either to enjoy looking round, or to be microchipped.
There is no BIOSECURITY warning accompanying this...and personally I’d think it’s a completely daft idea.
I’m really surprised that a renowned vet is letting this be done without any biosecurity information, the safest place to have microchipping done is at the veterinary surgery.
Caution ......You have no idea who is visiting the show, or whose birds are there...... you have no idea whether those birds are healthy, or whether they have been disease tested for the likes of PBFD, Psisitcid Herpes Virus, Chlamydopila Pssitaci, Avian Bornavirus,
So do consider carefully whether it is really a good idea, and really is it an environment which the bird would really enjoy?
