Stuttgart Amazons

    Not the sort of companions you usually see yellow headed amazons with, but there is an established flock in the wild in the city of Stuttgart !

    I would have thought the squirrel would have chased the birds?

    Red squirrels aren’t aggressive like the grey ones are.

    Brilliant, I have been there and seen them, the flock is about 50 head now and it is viewed that eventually they may be used for reintroduction to their native Mexico, somewhat sadly now IMO an escapee blue front has got amongst the flock and is hybridising with the birds which will weaken the gene pool and in fact make it unusable for conservation.

    Great pic! Love their playmates. The photo must have been taken in the winter as the squirrel has his ear tufts. Amazing the Amazons survive the winters.
