Thank you. I haven't stopped crying since the vet called. I was preparing myself and yet it feels so unreal. She looked sick yesterday and they thought she was fine and now suddenly called to say she didn't make it.
They wanted to do an autopsy but I said no. I want to bury her in my garden.
We are so sorry and saddened to read this post. :emoji_cry: Hugs xxxx
Fly free dear little Garp, such a beautiful bird, a great character and with a bit of mischief too......you will be greatly missed by your mum and OTL, and by many of us here on Forum, who loved to read your news.
Our Tom will be your friend over at the Rainbow Bridge.
there is not much I can say but I have tears in my eyes Garp was so loved and she will be very much missed I hope the her rest in your garden will help the flowers bloom of her lovely colours. I am thinking of you Scarf as I know how much of a character the Golden Mantled are and how you will miss her
Thank you all very much. We will have a little burial at home for her on Saturday when I have fetched her.
My friend came to visit and we came up with a fitting send-off: we will bury her in my old running shoe that she loved to attack, and plant a tree over her. In a large pot, so that if we ever move we can take her with us.
I think Garp would have a chuckle at that from the rainbow bridge. May she chase errant shoes for all eternity.
This is tragic news my heart goes out to you, so sorry to hear this.
Sweet little Garp you are going to be so missed it has been a total pleasure being allowed to have insight into your adventures and thoughts. Fly high over rainbows bridge little one your never going to be forgotten you touched the hearts of so many, sleep peacefully. xx
Oh my gosh, I got such a shock reading this! I'm so sorry. What a lovely idea to bury her in your shoe. :emoji_revolving_hearts: Fly free sweet Garp, and hope you find lots of shoes to chase at rainbow bridge.
I'm so so sorry for your loss Scarf, my heart is truly with you. Garp touched so many of us here. The stories you told about her, and especially the diary in her voice, made the world a much brighter happier place. xxx
Fly free Garp, and when you cross rainbow bridge look for the pink galah. She'll be the one saying Hello darling to you. You'll be with mummy again one day, and all our beloved lost birds will look after you until then. Night night sweety xxxxx
Thank you all. Gosh it was a shock this morning waking up to silence from her cage and such an ache. She has been my little buddy for so long. I'd forgotten what this feels like.
Poor OTL swore off dogs the last time we lost a dog and has now sworn off birds too. I have pointed out that we are running out of animals to swear off and that it's not really about the species so much as loving a little being and losing them. OTL is not impressed and is adamant that there will be no more birds. But nonetheless covered Garp's cage last night as though she was still in it. #lovestory
