Regurgitation or vomiting

Hi all I'm hoping someone can help. My kakariki has always put his food on things. But this last week he's not putting it inside his cage on the plastic tray his chippins sit on and on his bowls. Today for example I could of filled at least 6 teaspoons. I'm so worried if he's sick as this seems very excessive. He's 14 months old. Can anyone advise what is best to do

Take him to an avian or exotic vet if you are worried - it's a good idea to find one nearish to you now if you haven't already. Usually vomiting leaves food all over the face/head as the bird shakes his head.

Yes vomit will be flung about but regurgitated food can be re-eaten. Any doubts should be taken to an Avian Vet as already stated.

Hi all hes regurgitating bjt it's excessive which I'm not sure how to revert has anyone got any tips I took a picture earlier its about as much as a tablespoon in one go

That's quite a bit there especially taking in to account the size of the bird producing it to be on the safe side defo get it checked out even if you just book in for a general health check rather than something specific

This is a natural process that birds will do, its a way the male will feed the hen and even help feed its chicks, young male birds will practice regurgitating often and will be preparing to look for a female, part of the grooming process is to feed the female and show her that he can provide for her and her chicks. My hen kakarikis laid seven or eight eggs each time they laid so its a lot of mouths to feed, your bird is most likely eating for it self and then taking extra foods that it will partly digest to regurgitate. I will say if its regurgitating about a tea spoon in one go that is about twice of what mine had done at one time. although mine did regurgitate often leaving small piles of processed food in different places. I agree get him checked, you either have a extremely healthy bird that is full of passion (what I expect) or it may need some antibacterial treatment. I will say he looks stunning, How I miss the males calls.
