Rainforest mist, good or bad?

My Amazon has began an excessive moult, the lost feathers seem to be dry tipped and she's not gaining any large balding but I bought a recommended mist to help soothe skin if she's feeling any irritation.

I wasn't massively worried, it was as a precaution but I've noticed the rainforest mist spray, despite having good reviews, is baby powder scented. I'm a dog groomer and baby fresh is a popular scent that also has good reviews but I know first hand the strong smell causes seizures in dogs and it's not talked about. I don't know why a soother would have scents on it for a parrot but can anyone suggest a different kind or shed some light on what this one is like?

Hi hun firstly no idea re the recommended spray, I just wouldn't though. Plain warm water and check your room's humidity levels.

Inside out is what I believe so check her diet and see if any tweaks can be made. We tend to become set in our ways and maybe some changes need to be made? Other than that has your Ammie had a vet check up (avian vet) lately?

Mine are having a heavy moult this year Alfie my blue front looks like a scrubbing brush! I just use warm water as a fine mist and he gets a good misting a couple of times a week and usually one right good soaking through where he ends up looking like a drowned rat!
Only soother I have ever used is pure natural aloe vera straight from the plant. Peel it pulp it and add it to warm water give it a right good shake and use on fine mist.

Unfortunately not, regular vets have given her the all clear recently because we were in for a respiratory check but as far as avian vets go there's a few obstacles until we can. She's on a sugar free bucktons fruity with powdered vitamin and pellets. We tried some expensive mixes for amazon's on northern parrots but it seemed mostly comprised of sunflower seeds. She eats regular fruit now of an assortment. Any better recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

I've always just used some warm water and a mist, my fault for falling for 'product=better' as nothing seems to beat the basic. Haven't bothered with the profuct, as I said with baby fresh and powder scents causing seizures in so many dogs, abiet swept under the rug, it truly baffles me why companies think people should scent mist a parrot.

I can get beans, mashed carrot and the occational cucumber in her before she realises it's not fun. The fruit was a working progress for a while and she only took to it once she thought she was successfully 'stealing' it off of me. Now she'll eat enough to scare me with her odd coloured poop.

I really appreciate the help, I get quite nervous of of judgement or that I've been flatout poisoning my best friend.

To be healthy hun they really need to eat as wide a variety of foods, veggies especially. To succeed I make a chop and I also sprout (why not try this??)

Keep trying! I find it worth just offering whatever parrot safe veg I'm preparing. Dora can be so fickle about veggies-it took her 10 years to accept and eat a slice of carrot, then she wouldn't touch it for months, last week she would eat kale but refused her favourite vegetable Brussels sprouts.

I always find the most desired items for my amazons is stealing what is on my plate. So be prepared to eat some strange items and "share" make lots of yummy noises nom nom nom etc
My amazons like papaya, broccoli (plant of the devil stinky stuff!!!), passion fruit, grapes, blueberries. Fresh spring greens (uncooked) hung in side the cage for trashing but gets eaten that way too, sweet potato. If your bird had a health check and they said its fine the idea is don't try and fix what isn't broken by thinking diet has to have an overhaul.
