Plum, Fly Free My Gorgeous Boy.

Just finishing this off with Plum's necropsy results.
Main blood vessel/major supply to the lungs burst. This could have been made worse by Fatty Liver Disease and could have happened at any time. Only positive was I was able to hold him in his last minutes rather than he be on his own in his cage.

God bless sweet boy xxx

Oh my goodness. I suppose if it had to happen then it happened while you were there and as you say you were able to hold him during his passing. Rest peacefully now Plum, forever loved and missed xx

poor lad. would have been v fast & nothing you could have done. at least he had you with him although I know that is a hollow comfort right now

One thing with the result is you can put your mind at rest as there was nothing you could do about it and in fact you most likely helped plum live a full life by treating his Liver and stopping it from becoming the actual cause of death. My main concern is how are you both coping. When a bird gets so close to us its like loosing a child I know as I still find my delf having tears when I think of my Beryl. I would love to hear the stories behind some of the lines of the poem when you are ready. Hugs

Well at least you won't spend your life wondering why now, poor boy xx

In the poem you wrote bedenell, did you mean beadnell bay? (I hope you did) that is my most favourite place in the world and I'm pleased plum got out and about to enjoy it.

We were walking along Beadnell Bay one afternoon and I was on the water side, Plum was in his back pack being worn by hubby. I always walked slightly behind so Plum could see me easily and I was paying attention to him. Suddenly he made a loud noise to alert me to the fast approaching strong tide and I was able to jump out of the way instead of getting wet feet. Thanks Plum x

*sorry @Heather2131 He also enjoyed Bamburgh Castle :)

Beautiful poem @plumsmum for your beautiful boy Plum.
At least he was with his Mummy when he went to sleep for his last time. You gave him the best life and you both enjoyed each other.
One day you will be with Plum again. I know he is looking down on you and he is proud of his Mummy. He couldn't wish for a better Mummy that gave him a the most amazing life with lots of memories.
Treasure those beautiful memories. I am sending you a hug.

What a beautiful ode to Plum. Really glad you were able to be with him during his passing. Poor sweetie. Yes, no more self blame! xxx

At bedtime we used to do separate good nights for Plum, hubby and I. Hubby would go first and Plum would come over to him and talk for England. It became regular that Wizzy-woo and A-away-oo were mentioned each night. Hubby began to ask about them. "So what have Wizzy-woo and Away-oo been up today Plum, have they been good?" Plum would also add lots of head movements to this very animated conversation he was having with hubby. Hubby started to ask Plum things about Wizzy and Away-oo each night and one such time hubby asked after a very long, animated dialogue from Plum, surmising that something had gone on "really, have they been stealing cars?" so much to say could not be good. Plum came back with a very firm and definite "Yus" said not in his usual little boy voice but much deeper. Thankfully it looked like that those naughty boys only did it the once, as he never replied yes again to that question, perhaps Plum had a word with them after all. :risas3:

If I asked about Wizzy and Away-oo he just went quiet and would not talk of them to me, hubby said it was just boys talk. :)

@Michael Reynolds - Hubby is cut up but slightly better than I, as am prone to dissolving into tears at any given time. Hard that you can keep thinking back to this time last week also. Men sort themselves out more quickly, to do with being able to compartmentalise things I feel. Thank you for asking, very thoughtful of you. x
