When I said baby food I was talking about baby parrot feed, not human baby Diana, it may be easy to digest and can help to keep weight up, I know Roz will do anything for Ollie his in great hands
Thank you so much, lovely friends. It means a lot to know everyone is rooting for Ollie.
Michael, thank you for the suggestion of baby food. I have tried human baby food - he was liking baby porridge, but sadly only takes a few mouthfuls now, if at all. Baby parrot feed - I have Emeraid for sick birds. He had a few sips of it last night, but refuses it today. I also have Harrison's Recovery Formula which I was mixing into his cooked mash, but for the last two days he is not eating his mash. I have another Harrison's small bird formula, but that has bits in it, which I think he will find hard to digest. Have tried mixing both formulas with the porridge, but he doesn't like it. Going to see if he will eat any of the formulas or porridge again now.
Well, good news - Ollie likes the Harrisons Recovery Formula! He ate 4 spoonfuls of it in total tonight. I added his Celebrex to the second spoon and he ate it all! Wish he would eat the Gabapentin (for nerve pain), but it is almost up there with Baytril in the disgusting stakes. Maybe I will stick with Celebrex for the moment. Here he is eating the formula:
He also ate some cooked mash, baby porridge and a piece of digestive biscuit! I think he is feeling the love and healing coming his way. Thank you!
I have used Harrisons recovery formula with our chickens and also with wild birds that have come to us sick or injured. I find it works OK both as a creamy textured mix, a thicker paste and if you let it dry a bit you can roll it into little pellets too.
Keep going Ollie !
Feast is the first ever eggfood for birds to contain a prebiotic. Prebiotics are natural substances that help create a good environment for the friendly bacteria and, at the same time, make it a less attractive place for nasty germs like protozoa and disease causing bacteria. As well as this...
Wonder if there is a health food shop on the island perhaps something like ground millet made into a porridge may tempt him and be easy to digest being already ground.....
He had 3 small teaspoons of the formula for breakfast. Ate the Celebrex which was hidden in the first spoon. He also put on 6gms!!! Up from 316gms two days ago to 322gms this morning. The vet is coming to visit him on Wednesday.
Plumsmum, before now he hasn't really liked sweet things... but the Recovery Formula is quite sweet and he's eating that.
Dizzyblue I have baby porridge for him that he likes.
Scott199 the Feast Eggfood looks good! The probiotics are a big plus!
