Pea is well established now and I've learned most of his body language. He and Chewy are getting along quite well now. For the most part they do their own thing, but in the evenings Pea likes to hang out on the top of Chews cage or his boing. Chew always tells him to get off it at first, but Pea is a tenacious little guy and just neatly avoids having his toes nipped. On the rare occasion when Chew manages to get a small nip in Pea retreats for a bit before going right back again. Chew is being pretty good about it really, as he has never hurt Pea, it's more of a bluff warning than a serious attempt to damage him. After telling him off he generally retreats and lets Pea get on with it. The good thing is that sometimes Pea and Chew will beak in a friendly way for a few seconds before Chew walks away.

It looks as though they have decided to be wary aquaintances for now which is fine. I expect they will take more than a couple of weeks to decide to be friends if they ever do. As long as there is no fighting and both have the attention they need everything will be fine. He's playing a lot more now than when he first came, and is very inquisitive, he loves to show off and get his beak into everything. His energy levels are tremendous, he's far more active than Chewy. One great thing is that since he came Chew has started to eat more fresh food and been willing to eat things he previously wouldn't. I think a bit of jealousy has prompted him to do it, he sees Pea digging into his fresh food and wants it too, he's even decided that actually banana is quite nice and not the foul fruit he previously disliked. Pea on the other hand has made a couple of small attempts to copy a couple of Chews more tuneful calls. You can see him listening to them and then he attempts to copy a note or two. Maybe he'll learn some of Chews language which will no doubt help them become friendlier :)

He really is an affectionate little guy, and flies to me if I leave the room. He loves to be included in everything so I have to watch him like a hawk, and be careful of what I allow him to join in with. Left to his own devices he would plunge himself into the washing up bowl, or under the hot tap. Naturally I'm very careful to not allow him to get himself into danger. I do have new pictures too, which I'll try to post soon, right now I have to log off so the boys can have time out and attention :)

They spent a very happy hour or so earlier, just hanging out listening to an old trance cd I found, a leftover from the previous partner. Chew decided to sing along with some tracks and shout with some other parts, while Pea decided that the bits he liked best were so fascinating that he simply stood transfixed and listening attentively. Other parts of the cd set him whistling and beeping happily, and some parts were apparently not liked so well, and were screeched over until they passed.
