I've discovered the wooden coffee stirrer of doom! He can't decide if he's scared of it or if it makes a good chew toy, a bit of both I think. He'll happily sit on my hand and chew it as I hold it for him, but if I use it as a barrier to dissuade him from trying to bite the mouse or keyboard he backs away from it immediately. I can see a visit to a coffee shop or McDs coming soon to stock up on them

Thanks Tasch, I thought doing that would result in them being uploaded to our server and wasting space, but I'll do that later when I'm back from signing on :)

he looks wonderful Jaq! good to hear he has settled I love how Di refers to springers as 4 dogs in 1 do you think its applicable to Caiques in that they are like 4 parrots in one cause they seem like they have so much energy and are into everything

Yes! I mean I only have limited experience of the different species, Galah and then Amazon to compare to, but compared to those two species at least it've very applicable. 4 parrots in 1 is about right. I think I'd go a bit further though, because he's half the size and weight, so gram for gram he must be nearing more like 8 in one

Same pictures but added as images, so nobody has to wait forever to see each one as photobucket loads :)

This month Pea has settled in properly, so he now regards the entire house and every inch of me as his personal property! I'm less wary about keeping him and Chewy apart now as they are becoming used to each other. I had them separated with a curtain in between but then eventually opened that up for them. Pea was a bit pushy with Chew at first, and continued to fly to his cage and cling to the bars staring at him, which didn't go down particularly well. However, a few days ago Chew had had enough, and while he was out and Pea in his own cage they had a small altercation with no harm done. Pea nipped Chew's toe as he walked across Peas cage, not hard enough to do any damage, (I think he was trying to play) but Chew gave him a right telling off. There was a very short beak fight through the bars and Pea retreated abashed. He's now a lot less pushy and has learned not to mess with the big green guy :)

Neither caused the other any damage except to pride, so in a way I'm glad they did it. I think they needed to size each other up properly and find their place in the flock. It's now a lot easier and I can have them both out together. Naturally I'm on guard the entire time with towels in very easy reach, just in case a spat should occur! It's going so well in fact that when I showered Chew today Pea jumped from me onto Chewy's boing and had a shower as well. It was brilliant being able to alternate the spray between them until they were both thoroughly wet, shaking their tails and spraying me back

Pea has been in the habit of using his water bowl, but once he saw how much Chew was loving his spray he just had to have one too. It was really funny watching him bounce around between squirts, and shaking his tail like a pro. He then decided my head and hair were perfect to dry himself with, until I held a tea-towel up for him, when my hair was promptly abandoned in favour of it.

I'll update more soon, but I need to go out for an hour now. :)
