Parrot ring database

Hi. I’m new to the forum but had an 35 yr old African grey until 2 weeks ago when he died. We’ve now got a blue and gold macaw (17 weeks old) with a ring. Does the ring number belong to a registration scheme database? I have given the details to the insurance company for identification but would like to register him in case of emergency etc. Any ideas please.

:welcome: If the ring has PS on it then it is likely a ring of the Parrot Society UK, one of there members who breeds would have purchased the ring. Apart from that as far as I am aware there is not a ring no. database. Please do not post the ring number on here or anywhere though as it is your birds i.d. It is best to take him to your avian vet and have him microchipped, those details will then be kept on a database, on your vets records and on the insurance details. And of course you will have a copy to keep.
I hope this helps. And can we have a photo of your parrots please as we do love photos:thumbsup:

Personally I would have him chipped, if he is lost then the ring can easily be removed and it is not expensive.

Hi
Thanks for your help. I wouldn’t put the no on the site. He’s a lovely character and settling in well.

What a lovely boy, like his stand, I have exactly the same but took the swing off and changed a few bits, no not for my macaw, she hates it, Tommy amazon loves it though.

Hi Kendra. Thx for your reply. We’ve only had him ten days so I’m going to let him settle in a bit more and probably microchip him. He loves the stand and has taken the perch off already. Far to clever! But great fun

@TmacG We just put a suitable piece of natural wood for the perch then it does not matter how much they chew through them and is better for their feet. Strange but my Lucy Macaw hardly chews anything, in fact she is the least chewer of the whole flock, except for little Pinkie Bourke.

Hi I will let him carry on destroying it and have spares in place

I do understand though it is the males that can be handy with their beaks, MJGB are the ones for Macaw info.

Hello and welcome. You have a lovely B&G. I will chat at a later time as I am just getting over a small operation. I have a green winged
