Nicotine

I'm asking this on behalf of a facebook friend. I know that if you smoke you should always wash your hands before handling the parrot (as the nicotine and tar can be absorbed) and that you should never smoke around a parrot but....

Apparently there is nicotine in food and we were wondering if this is harmful? Anyone know? xx

Yeah apparently there is nicotine in a lot of food especially tomatoes, potatoes, cauliflower, green peppers...think the levels are very low though and probably safe, cooking also dilutes it further..

Yeah I was just thinking the same as Liz I would say its the burning and inhaling that makes it dangerous

I didn't know there was nicotine in other foods - must be some in chocolate as I'm definitely addicted to that.
