Its all willow except the base which is untreated pine! The top horizontal perch part is screwed on. Turned out really nice!

@Lauraj funny you say that as i was considering selling some but travelling to my parents house where i build them was difficult with covid. A lot of enquiries were for further down the line, think because people were short on money due to the pandemic

Well, if you do decide to make and sell some at any point let me know! I unfortunately do not have a creative bone in my body and know mine will fall over in no time 😂

My lovely boy decided he had had enough of his tail overnight and i woke up to a pile of red feathers on the bottom of the cage. It is sad to see as I'm sure many of you with feather pluckers will agree, especially when they do so well for so long. Ollie like many others has this habit. He has done this previously and may continue to do so. He could be featherless and he would still be absolutely gorgeous to me. Indescribable how much love I have for him. It broke my heart to see because he almost had a full tail again but as long as he is healthy and happy then thats all that matters to me.
I have to go out today as my brother needed a last minute babysitter. I am worried he might do it when im out but he has never done that before. Has always been during the night apparently. Hard not to worry when they become your absolute world ❤

That is a shame about his tail feathers. I'm sure he is very happy, hopefully he moves on from that habit 😀

Covid has been a rubbish time for all of us especially in a financial sense. I have been out of work since the beginning of lockdown and struggling to find a job with the demand far outweighing the available positions. I saw this massive cage and decided to sell some of my belonging to give this amazing creature a larger space so that when i do have to work he has more space and toys to occupy him while I am away. I noticed that he absolutely hates being in the cage and the one issue that previous owners complained about was the horrific noise he made in order to get attention. I know he only makes this noise when i leave the room or when im in the room and he wants out. So far my neighbours dont mind. Im not exactly quiet either so they are quite forgiving in that sense but i hope having a larger space when im gone will lessen the chances of it becoming an even bigger problem. To me he could do no wrong. He's a delight and means the absolute world to me so i am glad i could do this for him. Today I also heard back from an interview and will be starting the job next week. Its 4 hour shifts at night so that I still have plenty of time for him and my parrotlets of course too although they dont worry me as much because they have a strong bond with each other. Im happy that hes happy even if my living room is becoming a zoo 😂

Also please excuse my diy socket fixing solution... Its been hanging off since i moved in 2 years ago but i forgot as it was hidden behind a sofa but as ive upgraded all my birds to new cages i had to move the other sofa into the spare room thus revealing that monstrosity :risas3: :risas3:

A nice spacious cage and I hope he settles well. Congratulations in getting a job even if it is for 4hrs, it means the birdies will not be alone for long. Is that overnight or evening shift?

Thank you! Its a 6pm-10pm 4 or 5 days a week which is fine because im studying too and doing parrot charity stuff during the day and Ollie is very attached so exactly what i needed really! I still get to do the things that i love and are important to me which id great. I want to spend my life helping parrots and volunteering as much as possible plus i couldnt possibly miss out on another cockatoo attack session 😜🤣

Electrical insulating tape - the fixer of many things :)

Congrats on the new job. It sounds like it is near perfect for your needs.

House turning into a zoo. You are not alone. Many of us can relate to that :D
