Hi everyone from Ollie and I,

Today we were asked to make training videos for the rescue that I got him from for their facebook page to help educate others on how to build a bond with their birds through training. I am super excited and Ollie is ok with it too as long as he gets pistachios and I get his good side 🤣

Been working on figuring out which vitamin A rich veg he likes as he had a deficiency before. He loves raw carrot and some slightly cooked butternut squash. He seems to prefer his veg chunky as opposed to the chop with all of it hidden together.

Tried to take him in the shower. He likes it when i have a jumper on so he can grip better to my arm. He started dancing on my arm so i moved him under the water and he climbed onto my back and somehow managed to say bone dry whereas I was the complete oppostie :pancarta: Spray bottle again today 😂

Just an update.

Ollie has been getting on really well. Has grown in feathers on some of his bald patches. He has more tail feathers too. He only had 2 when I got him. He still seems to aggressively preen/pluck. He plucks mostly down feathers but the occasional pin. He's grown in more than hes lost.

Over the past week I've noticed feathers on the bottom of the cage. A lot more feathers than ive witness since I've gotten him. I'm thinking that he's molting rather than plucking them out because even though he does still pluck it is different from what id consider to be normal for him and he has been a little out of sorts in terms of being quite quiet and sleepy during the day. He spends a lot of time preening.

Hes eating well and has put on a little bit of weight which is good because he was underweight before. He's gone from 490g to 520g since i got him.

He was doing really well with recall training but this has recently stopped. He will do all the other things I have taught him but will no longer fly to me when i call him over. He spends a lot of time just hanging out on my shoulder though. Im not sure if its due to losing feathers, he just cant be bothered :pancarta: or because he lost balance on my arm and bit me over a week ago. I did not react to it at all but perhaps he doesnt feel as confident. He has flown to me when I havent asked him to... Like landing on my head while i was having a look in the fridge so that he too could have a nosey.

Just going to back to basics with his recall and see how we get on. Have been looking at getting an aviator harness but they all seem to be sold out. I notice Scarletts sell a similar type of harness. Should be fun trying to get him comfortable with that considering he doesnt like to be touched but sure we will get there and im in no rush, apparently the weather is supposed to be going downhill anyway!

Right I will go grab a bucket of popcorn and get myself seated comfortable .... totally way better than going to a cinema!

Okay so @DizzyBlue you're gonna have to either hold the popcorn until further notice or just buy more. Youtube will take down my videos because of the music Ollie is dancing to. Trying to figure out why you cant open my links 😭

A very spoiled boy enjoying one of his new foot toys and his new stand that we finished building today! I got drenched sawing willow down in the woods but its looking great! I now have 4 stands 😂

This one will go with his other t stand for training like flying between stands which weve been working on and hes been doing great but the ceiling stand moves too much so needed another T!

He was already doing really great with recall but he had a bit of a wobble and so we are building up again but using different training technique which i think will make his recall a lot more solid. Next year when the weather is good i hope to have him flying outside. Still plan on using a harness and flight lead for the security aspect of it. Would be beside myself if i lost him!

That stand looks ace, is that one piece of willow down the bottom and another screws to the top ?

I’ve found it silly hard to find a decent piece of willow with extra branches like that

That stand looks wonderful, i need a full one like that for Bo! You should start up a little business 😉

Bo loves them foot toys also, he got smart to them quick and made us laugh. He holds the bolt with his beak and uses his tongue to undo the nut, really funny because his little tongue goes really really fast 😂
