Hey there,
My mum has decided to get some new carpets for downstairs, both the birds are upstairs i need to know if this is safe and how long to air the carpet for before one of the birds can return downstairs. It is a carpet made out of man-made fibres

Best to keep them out of the area for a good few days, until any odour has gone, and any loose fibres vac'd up.

Also be additionally cautious if any glues have been used e.g. To affix underlay or grip rods, or if there are seams in the carpet which will have been glued together...as the glue is likely to be one that has VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds in it)

Ventilate the room as much as possible....windows open during the day, air purifier at night if you have one.

CockatielMerlin also open up stairs window for a little while if you can .
