Nest Box Cam

I've been laughing my socks off it's almost midnight on the nest box camera one chick trying to sleep plus mum trying to sleep and one chick has grabbed a moulted flight feather and is having a right good play wings up flapoing, feet grabbing, barging around and causing mayhem. Nobody else is going to get any sleep while it's playing bumping into them with that

Haven't had much time to watch the nests for sometime. Had a look this afternoon and been watching the youngsters antics, well worth the watch especially if you keep macaws, as you recognise some of the behaviours, and some you won't.

The one thing I have noticed is how much time they spend laying on there backs thoughout the day.

If a anyone is interested, the scarlet macaws are starting to show interests in nesting again, haven't seen any eggs yet, but adult pairs are using the boxes.

First eggs of the season, 2 eggs in Pochote box. Lots of action in the other boxes to, so hopefully more eggs on the way in the next few weeks.

Just looking this morning Guayabon box has 3 eggs in it, but no sign of the parents.

Hen now sitting on eggs in Guayabon box. So in total 5 eggs, 2 in Pochote box, 3 in Guayabon box, looks good so far.

@DanAndMarley is that a broken smashed ie never hatched egg in the nest box - Pochote

Think I just managed to get a piccie and looks like one is smashed hopefully it will be replaced sooner rather than later

As we know from last year, the later hatching was basically ignored and then past away, I will have a look later on.

Just had a look at this egg, can't see what's the hen is sitting on, hopefully this is apart of an egg from last year.

@DanAndMarley just logged on to the nest box cam again and besides having to wait for a large bum to get out of the camera view I managed to grab a screen shot two eggs and one smashed one

Wisconsin is currently empty no signs of activity or usage
Ron Ron is off line and not working no feed apparently
Guannacaste is also empty no activity or signs of occupants
Ceibo Bajo had two birds in there sleeping but both have exited so perhaps something will happen soon no eggs yet

Ceibo Alto seems to have a dirty / damaged egg which is odd but there were birds present

Pochote box, I originally only could see two eggs and the nest had no parents in the box when I looked, only seen the damaged egg, which I think is from last year, when you mentioned it. Also if you really look at it, it's very dirty.

Ceibo Alto egg has been in the box for a long time, I started to look towards the end of December and it was there then, so I would definitely think this is from last year hatchings.

Just looking at nest boxes and Ceibo Bajo has one egg in it now, possibly more but hen is in the way.

Guanacaste zero eggs zero birds
Guayabon zero birds three eggs


Pochote nest has one bird and two eggs


Panama has one bird two eggs


Wisconsin no birds no eggs
Ron Ron still off line unable to stream

I won't be watching nests with three or more eggs ..... I hate seeing nature take its course when the last hatch and are so much weaker than the others and don't make it
