Nail Clipping

The answer is very little your better off with a nail trimming perch to wear the claws down naturally.
Each claw has a quick in it with a blood vessel going right down the middle. Some claws are easy to see as they are white or almost clear and you can see the blood supply and stay well away from it. Other claws are dark and you can't see anything so it can be very painful to say the least if you catch the nerve or the pulp or indeed the blood vessel inside it if you get it wrong. If you go to the vets you can ask them to show you how to do it most vets are really quite good at showing that :)

Personally I would not clip the nails, but enable thebird to wear down their nails by climbing around on lots of branches etc. Maybe others here will have different advice, but if I did have to have the nails clipped I would have the vet do it as I believe it is easy to cut too much and make things bleed.

Out of my two parrots only one needs to have regular nail trims but it’s because she was born with little bit deformed feet which causes her to not being able to grip properly, we’ve been shown few times how to cut her nails but none of us at home is brave enough to do it🤣( our problem is not only how much to cut but that probably we would have to towel her and she is not a fan of idea) over autumn and winter we managed to train her to let us file her nails little bit but soon I will probably take her to vet for proper trim, another one is totally fine without nail trimming, she has lots of different natural perches and one perch which is supposed to wear cloves down

If you do trim the nails less is best as like previously said can bleed just nip the ends an you would find she would get used to if done regular. Have to spare some flour if you do go for it incase you do take it abit to far as it will help stop the bleed.

Yes good advice above hun, I need to get Sonu's done but am gonna insist on filing rather than cutting, my previous AV used a Dremil I think. If you can get a nail perch and site it in the favoured day perching place it should do the trick.
