Nail and beak trimming

I agree likely 08 is the year she hatched. I also agree beak & nails are fine, one of my Senegals has very sharp nails too and I have fragile skin which easily pierces, so always long sleeve and other protection for me. I will remove the ID ring details for your own security, should she ever go missing the numbers confirm she is yours.

Many thanks everybody for your valuable advice. I cannot understand, though, why the Seller told me my bird would be two years old in September instead of 16. They seemed like decent people. I won't ask them. because there's no point. Bertie is my lovely friend whateveer her true age.
Kind regards
Sapper

Just need to get Bertie exercising around a bit more on those branch perches soon wear them down.
And as the older we get the thinner our skin seems to become.
Our Diana has had some right nasty gashes.
I notice my birds claws seem sharper but last vets visit I know that vet was looking at me like I was over the hill and past it!
You could try just a standard nail file one of those cardboard ones and when Bertie hangs on the cage bars just gently get him used to having the tiny sharp tip blunted a little only needs a little bit not much or he'll not be able to grip on to his perches

Morning, Bertie's previous 'slaves' have confirmed her date of birth as August (08) 2022. Maybe others have read the 08 as 2008? I am visually impaired and can't read the ring myself.
Thank you for your interest
Sapper
Ah yes I did read the 08 as the year, having always used PS I.D. rings that is how they read. so dear Bertie is 2yrs old.

Thank you so much for your valuable confirmation. I am glad I joined The Parrot Club, being such a novice. I do worry about Bertie 'sulking' or seeming to dismiss me if I have said 'NO' too many times!
I am in the process of putting guards on all electrical cables. She (Bertie is a non-binary parrot!) has chewed the 8 of my keyboard, destroyed my watch strap and PC power cable etc You will no doubt all be familiar with this.
Bye for now.

Sometimes I think Bertie is emotionally manipulating me, like turning her back in the morning and not speaking for hours, leaving me to wonder which of the many pitfalls I've fallen into. Today I've had to decide that Bertie is more important than my new curtains, carpets etc.
You may be able to buy some decent curtains etc in charity shops, I do that at times.

From your reply it seems that I expressed myself poorly. I wasn't seeking to source new curtains - I have them. What I failed to get across was that rather than telling Bertie not to chew and tear my curtains, I had to choose what is more important; the relationship with my curtains or the relationship with Bertie. If it is still unclear, I choose Bertie. It's a complicated relationship, more like one with a cat than a dog.
Kind regards to all,
Sapper

I go through more curtains than I care to think!
Oh and one of the amazons has decided he doesn't like the door frame :BangHead: door frame has been here longer than he has but all of a sudden afterall these years of Alfie living here apparently the doorframe isn't liked :noidea: either that or Alfie is half woodworm!
