My little fluffy daisy passed away at the vets in the night about 4.30am I’m so upset 😭 I’m totally lost. I had her only a few week but I loved her sooo so much it’s awful . I got her my daughter for Xmas. I’ve still got the terrible news to tell her this morning. I know she’s going to take it bad as well. She’s autistic. And everything else I’m lost I’ve Tried my best . It’s not about I’ve payed £1400 .
I just wanted to make her happy Christmas as we adopted her as a baby 👶. It’s going to be so so hard
I’m think of taking her to the pet shop ( parrot) not to replace our daisy baby bird . I just don’t know what to do

Don't worry keep your head up. Nothing is permanent, happiness, anger... They all start and end eventually. So sad to hear that... What I would do though is take her to the pet shop and let her choose whatever she likes.
 
I know how heartbreaking it is to lose a birdie, also other animals too.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss my lovely... they take a piece of your heart the moment you meet and it’s so hard when they leave us. We lost 2 budgies within 2 months, the latter only being with us for 3 weeks and the pain wasn’t any less. Lots of love and hope you find someone to make you smile again soon xxx
 
I am so sorry hun, may Daisy be free from pain and forever fly free. Would you consider having the vet carry out a Necropsy to determine the cause of death? Will answer any lingering questions.

Please don't take this as a criticism but please do loads of research before committing to another parrot. They are complex and you need to know how best to care for them to be happy and thrive. They are complex, intelligent and sentient beings.

Please register with some of the charities (via FB) if you feel you want another bird, rehoming is a better route to go as there are plenty needing 'good' homes and they have people that are happy to help you.

I would take your daughter to the toy shop hun, local petting farm, zoo? I do not think you should repeat the recent events without rational proper consideration?

What a flipping week from hell .. lost my baby daisy doll.. I swear I could write a book 📚 :bird_brain: I went to take my daughter (( 14)) to McDonald’s then ended up going to the bird shop .. after nearly being in a car crash only a few hours after the bad news of baby daisy died at 4.30 am yet been awake crying. We decided to go back to the man we got our baby daisy from
not a shop.
Then decided to buy yet a baby grey at 14 weeks old.. stupid me tut tut tut
We got our new Lucy home 🏡 and we could just not take to her at all .. so where we’re at is waiting on a new baby so we can feed her or him .. yes call me mad 😠 stupid silly I know..
today full of a cold though 😭 crying got a sympathy card in the post from the vets guess what a emotional mess yet again. What’s up with me xx 😘
 
It is illegal to sell an unweaned bird.
Greys and many other parrots HAVE to have a Appendix 1 Cites certificate (that means the breeder registering with Defra) they are classed as endangered specie and it is breaking to law to sell without registering the bird and giving you the documents.
It is a serious offence.

I have to say I do wish you had learned from last time I really do and not bought yet another unweaned little bird. Nor buy another.
You are now responsible for it's life, cared for well it can live over 40 yrs, I hope you are aware of this.

Sorry if I sound harsh but it needed to be said.

Handrearing a bird is not the way to go about bonding with them. You need to spend time with them building that bond up on mutual trust and respect.

A handreared bird does not mean handtame even if you rear it yourself. I've handreared various birds and some of those once weaned wanted nothing to do with humans which is fine. That's down to them. Doesn't mean I care for them any less. every bird has it's own personality.

I personally think you should take a step back and take a break from birds for a while to fully heal from loosing Daisy.
 
I will say this it is totally irresponsible of the breeder to allow you to buy a unweaned baby grey in the first place.
You are clearly not a experienced bird owner so even thinking of buying another baby grey unweaned is totally irresponsible on your behalf as well as the breeder. It is also ILLEGAL!
You should have learned a big lesson from what happened to Daisy.
It sounds to me from your past posts from your too and Daisy that you are wanting the perfect parrot that is tame. So any parrot that comes to you and is not fitting your requirements goes. This is resulting you to want to buy a uweaned, very young parrot so you can bond sooner. This is not the best for the birds.
I am sorry if this has offended you. But please please just don't make the same mistakes. They are precious, intelligent but also complex birds. So do some studying first then wait until you find a fully weaned baby grey. If the grey doesn't take to you then you carry on caring and not pasaing it on. That is how it is with parrots. No guarantee I am afraid.
