Afternoon all, so me and my boyfriend have been lucky enough to buy our first beautiful home!
We have secured a belter, a large living room but a spare ‘dining’ room which is separate from the living room, big enough to be a bird room. Birds cages and java tree will be going in there. The birds will be able to still come into the living room all the time we are home but this will be their room when they are in their cages on a night and when we are at work.
I decided to make this a bird room so we can hang things from the roof and make it a fully bird safe area. It’s secure, no doors leading outside and it’s just a great room for the parrots!
At the minute i am super lucky, i live very local to my parents and my mum wakes the birds up for me when me and the boyfriend are at work.
I work shifts and one week i work early shifts over the weekend meaning mum gets the birds up Friday and Monday morning, the following week i work an early shift mid week meaning mum gets the birds up Tuesday-Thursday.
The rest of the time me or the boyfriend wake the birds up and give them their breakfast.
The rest of the time we are with the birds.
My new house is further away from the parents and they won’t be able to help wake up times etc.. my sister is opposite but she isn’t very confident around the birds so for the start she won’t be able to keep their routine either.
I know the move in itself will be stressful and i am planning on moving the birds last, leaving the living room untouched and moving the room in one swift movement so the birds will be leaving one living room and then entering a new one with the same furniture etc.
However, now we have bought a house which is going to be turned into a bird heaven full of toys and fun things to do how do i make this move smooth?
I am worried that Bo will stress, fifi is a robust little monster and nothing phases her. New toys, new cages, new room lay outs do not bother her. Bo on the other hand, he is a little sweetie and change is much scarier for him.
Any help advice and tips would be massively appreciated, we don’t have a move in date as of yet so want to be super prepared for this!
