Morning Di and everyone, tis going to be another scorcher here to, dogs have all had a good run early so they don't have to exercise heavily in the heat, they are all sufficiently knackered, birdies all fed and happy, I have been sitting looking at the conures very upset the last couple of days wondering if im making the right decision or not, its so hard and I love them so much, such beautiful happy birds, its beginning to dawn on me but it will be the right thing for them, I cannot be selfish and keep them just because I adore them its not enough but I am going to relate on a different level to anyone who has to rehome their friends. enjoy your days everyone and the sun, look after your skin though and factor up :) xx

Morning Lou, yes another hot day ahead. Beaches will be packed I expect.
Definitely a sad decision for you to rehome the conures, but you are putting their welfare first which is the right thing to do, albeit hard.
I admire you for that as many folks would put their own feelings first. I expect you will get updated as to how they are and will be reassured you have made the right decision x

Morning
Well I`m glad someone has sunshine, we certainly don`t!!! It`s blowing a gale here and cold!
Harley`s on jemima duty for the next few days so he will love that!
Lou I can imagine how upsetting it is, but no doubt more upsetting watching them knowing they`d love to be flying in an aviary and having more freedom. At least with Nikki you know she bred 2 of them so they`re just returning there and taking their little buddies with them.
I`m sure she`ll keep you updated on how they settle too. When we parted with Phoebe we felt just the same, but looking at her now, it was the right thing to do.
Just general work for me today, yawn, had a 7 minute lie in this morning, get me!!

Morning everyone, beautiful blue skies and sun here today which a lovely start to the day. Lou hun, I'm so sorry that you've had to make this difficult decision. I admire you more than I can express for doing this. So very many people would do the selfish thing, but you have a heart as big as the world. I know it's not really going to make it any easier for you, but once this is done and you know they have the freedom you want for them, you will have a little more room. That's room that you could use to help some poor bird in a dire situation who might otherwise continue to suffer. xxxx

Yes Lou she was. Phoebe30143.JPG Phoebe10143.JPG
To cut a very long story short she was with someone who smoked all around her and didn`t treat her well, we took her on via a rescue (one which is no longer running today) and weren`t even told she was plucked, when the rescue gave her to this person she was in full feather.
There were some stories of her having been with a Military Macaw and they were supposed to be rehomed together but were split up and had been soul mates.
We tried everything for her including quite heavy drugs from the vets, it wasn`t just her plucking, she used to just pace the cages and make a bleeting noise, she was forever bleeding as she caught her wings whenever she tried to flap them.
We love her so much but nothing we did helped, the one thing left to try was to reunite her with the Military who was in a very good home and well loved.
The owner wasn`t going to part with him (and we wouldn`t ask her to, he was happy loved and settled) so Phoebe went there on a trial basis and, whilst, they didn`t instantly bond back, having him around her seems to help, she can now be in a cage and on a cage not just up with our big guys which really wasn`t suitable for her.
We miss her every single day, she`s not cured and her face as we drove away wondering why we left her, BUT she looks so happy now, she`s well cared for and I believe her new owner can and does give her more than we could

Morning all,
Lovely sunny morning here.
I can't start to imagine how hard it is having to re-home part of your family, but like others have said, it's the unselfish side of you and the true love you have for them, that knows they can have better. The fact they are staying together will make it so much easier for them to settle in their new home.
My Leonberger Luna with bone cancer is not too good, she has a humungous hot spot on the side of her face, has just started breathing slightly funny, so time is running out for her, breaks my heart, but won't let her suffer, so next couple of days I think the decision needs to be made!
Picking up Mini tomorrow, so will have transport all of my own, it's been months.
I'm working today, I never remember when it's bank holiday, so I book dogs in for grooming well in advance, and then realise, oh well, might learn how to use the diary properly one day!!!
Have a great day everyone.

I am so sorry k8. It is always so heartbreaking to be in that situation. The saying that has always remained with me regarding the right time to take the step is 'Better a day too early then an hour too late'
Lou, you too I feel for. I know when I rehomed my ringnecks I felt like a total failure but sometimes it is just the right thing to do. They just didn't fit in with this household . Likewise I had to rehome a pineapple conure when I lost his mate and he was pining dreadfully. I put out feelers and a lady had a little hen conure that had just lost her boy and was likewise in grief. She did not want to rehome her girl so he went to her on a trial basis and it was love at first sight. Again although I was very sad to see him go it was the right thing to do.
here I am crippled - did a lot of gardening yesterday so can barely move today so today is book and coffee day until my knee has calmed down,

Oh poor Luna, we`ve all been there with love and loss and it never gets any easier.
It`s bloomin freezing here in Lincs and the wind is howling!
