Lineolated/barred parakeet

Hi guys! What food do I feed these little beauties please? Aside from fruit and veggies. I have pellets, but I’m talking for the seeds. Canary or budgie?

I feed my guys a cockatiel seed, along with the fruit and veg. I have tried sprouted seeds but they don’t seem to like them.

Would love to hear about them, don’t think there’s many (if any) people on here that have them.

He’s settled in really well thank you. He’s not so flighty when I’ve got my hand in the cage. He’s green. I’m having a hard time finding another one though I’ve named him pickle

He’s lovely. He looks like a dark green, or double factor green. Linnies are extremely hard to find. I’m always on the look out for newbies for my gang.

Love the name, very fitting. Do you know his age?

Hope you don’t mind me saying that if you could get some apple branches (washed and disinfected) that’ll help with his feet.

He looks like a pickle! Lovely lad.

Apple tree branches are brilliant. I use double-ended self-tapping screw, waskers and butterfly nuts to fix them to the bars of the cage. I like them so much (and so do my birbs) that I am gradually replacing most of the other perches, in favour of them.

That picture was taken when I first got him home, he’s in a different cage with lots of natural branches now. He was last years hatch. Hahaha I just look at him and thought ‘you looked like a gherkin, I’m going to call you pickle’ what colours do you have?

No, they are aviary birds. They can be tamed but need one to one constantly. As soon as they go into a flock they become part of that.
