Kakariki biting!!!

hello im wondering why my kakariki has become very cage defensive in the last few months? I know a few years ago She had a friend (a budgie) however like I said he died a few years ago nopt recently!!! However my kakariki cage is placed next to my 2 cockatiels cage and he is allways on the side of his cage that is the nearest side to the cockatiels cage so Im wondering whether I should get him a friend? When he comes out whilst Im doing the daily cage maintenance he ends up on the side of the cockatiels cage however they dont like him on the side and they argue! The other problem is if I let him out with the cockatiels he chases them and then tries to bite them (So that is what confuses me! If he wants a friend he cannot be chasing him or her around and trying to bite them??? Does he actually know what he wants???)

Please help!!!!!

I guess he may need a friend maybe another Kak?
Of course not all species get on with others types or even with their own, so difficult to know what to advise.
Let see what others who keep them advise.
@DizzyBlue @Yellowchickenparrot any one else please.

Thats what im thinking and there is someone currently selling Kakaikis? Would it be worth me taking him or her along with me when choosing the new one so I can see how he or she behaves around a new member?

If I was you I would get a bird of a different species perhaps another budgie as you don' want to have a mistake like getting say two boy kakariki's together or they will most likely spend their time fighting as will two hens ... perhaps another budgie?
When introducing the budgie make sure its outside the cage first and then swap around all the toys inside the cage before they go back in and place the cage in a different place in the rooms it looks totally different to what it usually looks like. that way the kakariki will think its in a different territory and not be too aggressive towards a new friend.

I would not get a budgie, it is different if all the birds have plenty of space like an aviary or more than one room to fly in too, Kaks are so active and fast they can frighten other birds just by there quick moving. an aviary situation is quite different and then you will find Kaks get on with Budgies, tiels and grass parakeets well.
