Is this a normal tail feather.

Evening all,

Bo is going through a moult and has lost a couple of full feathers with no issues.
This evening he has been hanging upside down on his java stand and ive given him his daily check over and noticed this feather on his tail.

I am a worrier about blood feathers and don't like the look is this a normal red feather growing in process or is this something to keep my eye on. Tried to get a couple of photos without my phone getting taken by the monkey himself!

He is fine in himself and not showing any signs of discomfort.

The feather may of been damaged during it growth but as with all feathers I think it is something to keep an eye on and let us know if other feathers come out similar. How old is your bird now?

He has just turned one. This is the first one that looks like this so far, he is rough on his toys so he probably has damaged this whilst hanging upside down swinging haha!

There is a strong likelihood that it is just damage, but saying that you should keep a close watch on new feathers coming. I cannot say that I am not concerned but my thought is your bird is fine. I have made this post one I am keeping an eye on and let s know if other feathers are fine or not. thank you

You can tell he's been playing rough as there are very clear fret marks going in a straight line across two feathers and I can see a third feather has fret breaks clean through it.

Thank you that will be helpful!
I may have to consider changing what toys go where in his cage, it seems no matter where toys are placed he loves swinging and often jumps onto them.
I will certainly look into changing this round.

Thank you both so much!

Good evening.

Little update on this feather, i have been checking on this feather a lot and the end has now opened up to a new red beautiful little feather. There's a lot still to come out but no blood and appears to be a normal tail feather.

Still keeping an eye on it but thought id message quickly and let you know that the coating seems to be breaking down and a nice feather is coming through..

Thank you for the help during my little panic!
