I do not think that having to get Kiwi from a dangerous situation will affect too much in fact if it was scared by your dog kiwi will see that you only picked him up for his sake, green cheek conures love play fighting with another green cheek, its the way they are and they do play rough at times, ok they may try to do this with other species that do not do the same type of play.

I really hope that’s the case... I’ll see how he responds to me being near him when he’s awake tomorrow. Haha! Green cheeks are so funny, they square up to anything :risas3: wish it would let me attach the video I caught of Echo putting big old Kiwi in his place:p

Hey @Michael Reynolds! Giving you an update on Kiwi to see if you’re able to help me any further. After allowing him to socialise with my conure a few times a week, Kiwi has really opened up in terms of vocalisation. He’s making what I call “parrot noises” finally, so random little squeaks, sound effects and trills all in one go! Would love to be able to show you a video but it’s too large... however he’s still not taking to me personally. He’s okay with me opening the cage as he knows it means he’s allowed out, but putting my hand in the cage to change the food or water still freaks him out. He still won’t let me approach him when he’s out of the cage either! Any ideas on how to get him to stop flying away from me? He won’t take food from my hand or through the cage yet either, just having to drop treats into his food bowl...

all you can do is carry on what you are doing offering feed (you can try using a cocktail stick to see if he will take food from that), it can take a while for him to recognise you will not hurt him. let him see how Kiwi is with you.

I did think showing him that my conure is a bit more comfortable with me would help but it hasn’t so far, I’ll just keep trying!
