Just got the photos through today from the vet. So here you go:

The feathers from Greg, all nicely laid out on a piece of paper....

the equipment

I think this is with the feathers cut down ready

some feathers added - can you see the its of wood holding it all together

I think this is all done on one side. There is one of his own feathers growing. If it hadn't been for the imping this would have snapped. But its now nicely growing with the support of the others

I've just looked at all those pics, and all I can say is WOW.

A lot of work and time was spent doing that for Budge, it's great to see it all like that, thanks for sharing Ann-Marie

I did feel a bit sorry for Budge seeing him just laying there with that tube, bless him

Julie

I know its amazing isn't it. I got a bit emotional when I looked at the photos.

Yes I felt a bit sorry for him but that couple of hours has been worth everything for him xx

That is great Ann Marie so pleased it was successful for budge! Xx

Amazing to have the pictures as it went as well!!

It's amazing to see the process in action, first time I've seen it, thanks Ann-Marie

Brilliant, But I did feel sorry for poor budge lying there. But it's great that you have the photos as most of wouldn't have a clue about imping and what it entails. Wtg budge you clever brave boy. Xx

Thanks Karen. I'll be giving you all nightmares of Budge lying there with his tubes xx

Thats amazing Ann-Marie, so interesting to see. Thank you for sharing these with us, i can imagine how emotional it was for you to see dear Budge like this, but it has obviously been worth it :good: :good:

oh bless little budge. i was a bit shocked to see him lay there, but all was well in the end and i'm so glad it has worked out for him :flowers:

Hi A-M,

Thanks for putting these pics up; I think it does help everyone to see the process under way.

Yes, it looks like P no 8 (and one secondary) on the Right wing is growing down.

Richard ( the vet who did the imping) will be at the talks he and I are doing on Oct 21st near Birkenhead, so maybe he'll cover this issue as well. I know you, A-M are coming, but hope to see a few others from Parrot Club there as well. I'm bringing two of my birds, Red (T grey) and Mr Big (Meyers). It might be useful if I could use these pics for part of my talk, if that's ok with you A-M, and I'll check with Richard as well.

I'm quite used to seeing birds aneasthetised so this does not really worry me. Since anaesthsia is only be gas, the birds recover rapidly, usually within a few minutes. I have had several operations myself and 'human' anesthesia takes *hours* to recover from, in a way, birds have it a lot easier!

There is a world of difference in using a specialist bird vet like Richard who really knows his stuff and has such skills with birds.

Well, hope some of you can make it to the tallks.

All the best,

Hi Greg

fine by me if you want to use the pictures or any others I have uploaded of budge.

I've seen birds under anesthetic a couple of times and they come round really quickly xx
