i need help

Tip yes - please do not have his wings clipped, he is meant to fly. The uncomfortable stage will pass and he will be able to do what birds should do and that is fly. I think the practice of wing clipping is extremely cruel. As for his nails if you use natural wood like apple/hazel/willow for perches they will exercises his feet and usually keep the nails trim, nails are meant to be pointed and usually sharp if is only when they grow quite long and they have difficulty climbing they may need to be expertly trimmed. You can also purchase rough perches like 'Polly perches' or whatever they are called that can help re nails, although they sometimes make the bottom of their feet sore.

Hi how are things in Israel, we are still on lockdown, first of all i cannot advise wing clipping, most vets in the UK will not clip wings with out a medical condition like the bird being blind. if you check the post "National geographic" you will see me working with a white bird nebulizing it. unfortunately had Phycological problems after wing clipping that started with plucking and went on to self harm. with all the help i gave the bird it finally damaged itself so badly it could not be healed. you can use rough perches to keep nails under control

These definitely are bad hun, can you get a copy of A Parrot's Fine Cuisine Cookbook for further info or failing that have a look on here for list of good foods.

You mention cleaning his cage which needs doing often please? I clean cages every day more if they have been very messy. Things like water and food need changing more frequently in hot weather when there are flies about and the food goes off quickly. We don't like living in a dirty environment and this also increases the risk of illness to him.

My cockatoo had her wings clipped and not sure if it is related but she is a nut job flying now I wish she had not had her wings cut.

Wow, its been a while since i last logged in, But there still haven't been any progress with Ranji.
Im still patient and trying to be as positive as i can but it starts to seem impossible. He still scared of me like from fire and nervous, and hes behavior also makes me feel a little bit down. And i gotta say that hes as well looking a little upset, and sits quietly..
For a really long time i hoped for a pet that would trust me and i would trust it. But he is already a pretty big boy.. Maybe someone got into the same situation as me and could help me heal this broken trust?..

Don't give up! When we first took on our Senegal she took a liking to my husband immediately. With me she was cautious, and spoiled not come to my hands, sit with me or anything. I would spend time with her every day and my husband used to put her on my knee... at which point she would run down my leg and sit on my toe! She refused to step up for me for so long that l would be in tears of frustration that she would ever trust me.
I would spend time with her at the table threading beads, and she wanted to play too, and that is when she started to trust me. But it took around 6 months.
So keep positive and keep trying 🙂

Firstly oo not fill down, I have a Jandya Conure that I am training, She is sill little nervous but will land on me for food but has only stepped up to my hand a few times, I have been working with her a few months be patient an stay reaxed,Try to let your bird get curios so it will come to you, Conures are nosy birds so try to use this to your advantage

That could happen with any bird. What if your new one bites as parrots do... Will you rehome that one too? You will only get out of it what you're willing to put into it. Can take months, sometimes even longer, to work through any issues and build a solid foundation of trust. They are a big commitment and not one that should be taken lightly. I have a pair of parrotlets and ive had them for a year. They had a bad start and they still do not trust me enough to let me handle them. I still give them as good a quality of life as I possible can. Maybe we will make progress tomorrow, or next month or even next year, who knows. I know it can be disheartening but it makes any progress, no matter how small, completely worthwhile 😄 I also have a 13 year old african grey that ive had just over a month now and we get on great, hes like my little shadow, but even he will hiss, lunge and bite if he's in a bad mood, tired, does not want to interact etc.. Its their way of communicating something to you. So when im met with these behaviours I figure out what I have done that may have triggered that response and I dont do it again and I never push him to do something he clearly doesnt want to do. Its a lot to do with picking up on their body language and respecting boundaries. It takes time and all birds are different.
