Hi, I am writing this thread because I have increasingly became worried about my Budgie, Blair.

On the Wednesday last week my three budgies were happily chirping, playing and just being budgies in their cage. They have a fairly big cage that has a few different doors to open. On the night I had to visit my dad because he is Ill and i stayed the night, he lives down the street from me and I didn't think anything of it because I knew i'd be back early in the morning.
However that was a huge mistake, my mom has a cat (don't get me wrong I knew it is in their nature) and I hadn't closed the door to the budgies room correctly, while that usually wouldn't be a problem cause the cage door is always locked shut when the budgies aren't out playing, a screw had come loose on the cage door and I think the cat had knocked the door and it had swung open....

I wont mention any of the details because it's heartbreaking, but I lost two of my budgies and Blair, my remaining budgie was found clinging onto dear life on top of the curtain. Obviously I was devastated.

All Thursday I cleaned the room, put Blair in a small travel cage and cleaned out the old cage and made sure each screw was in correctly. since then, Blair hasn't eaten very much, i've even replaced her pellets with a seed mix just to try and entice her to eat more, she'll have a nibble and then fly off. I've replaced the old perches and toys with new ones that I know is her favourite and kept her in the smaller cage for a few days just to keep an eye on her.
Her poop is looking very dark, almost black, and now I'm a bit concerned because I popped her back into the bigger cage, and she had a little look around and then started pacing back and forth on this one perch. I've seen her do this before when see spots me holding millet or she gets excited. so I thought maybe she was just excited to be in her old cage that she recognises, but last night she was doing it constantly non-stop, for a few hours and I had to sleep so I did go to bed, however I woke up this morning and checked on her and she was still doing it! she shrieked a little at me but didn't stop the pacing and I'm not entirely sure she slept.

the cage full of her favourite toys, so she can't be bored, I'm just extremely worried. any help would be appreciated.

She is most likely missing the company of the other birds, also she may remember what happened that tragic night and it will take time for her to settle and fill secure, I lost a few flock members one night owing to rats, it took a while for my other birds to settle and fill safe. i am so sorry to hear this has happened but you cannot blame yourself as we can all say what if, but you have to think you gave your birds the best life you could and kept them happy, I do hope Blair will settle soon
