Hi could anyone help am trying to upload a video of Kiwi stepping up and also stepping down , have tried resizing video but still can't get it to upload . Thank you in advance to anyone who can help .

I have only used YouTube to post videos, so I cannot comment on the others, but Vimeo is a video hosting site too and the posting/linking process is probably similar.

For YouTube, you "create" a video on the site using the button circled here:

create_video.png

If you don't see that button on YouTube, it may be because you have not created a YouTube/Google account. I cannot go through the video creation process here as it would take too long, but it is relatively straightforward. Just make sure that when you create the video there, you set the access options correctly, so that everyone that you want to see it, can see it.

Next, go to your video. You can do this by clicking the button highlighted in red below, followed by clicking on the link highlighted in blue. Your uploaded video(s) should be shown:

view_channel.png

Click the video that you want to link to on the forum and it should start to play in YouTube. The URL (web address) of the video will be shown in your address box near the top of the window. It will look something like "https:// ...". Copy all of that URL.

Next, go to the forum and in the text box where you type posts, there is a media button:

add_media.png

Click that button and a window will appear, prompting you to enter the media URL:

media_url.png

Copy the URL of your video into that, and click Continue. It will add some coded text into the text box.

The process looks a little complicated, but you'll soon get the hang of it.

@DizzyBlue , can you please post a full list of the video hosting sites fully supported by the Fotum?
Obviously YouTube is one of them, possibly Vimeo too. I know Rumble is not!

I don't use YouTube or Vimeo (reasons!) and Rumble is blocked for at least one of our cirrent, illustrious members.

Thank you!

Can't say there is a list but I know if the video site requires people to have an account and verify to view we can't see it.
Not sure what Rumble requests or what your seeing as to it not working.
We have simply gone with simple URL unfurling
Life got way too complicated when everywhere started demanding you had accounts to be able to view stuff by others add to that the spammers redirecting stuff by adding spurious links we stuck with the simple free ones that people create. Lots of them try to add stuff into our site software which we don't want and I'll be stuffed and hung on a wall first.

I'll ask our IT guru about it and see how much it's going to cost me to get an add on of s9e media sites and if it's been updated and what his charge for installing will be.

Weird just googled Rumble and why it's not supported and can see Linux.org isn't supporting it either they're Xenforo just like us  their admin say it needs a bbcode hack to work but I'm definitely not going down that route :copas: I couldn't hack my way out of a wet paper bag!

Looking at the hosting at the moment we have the following

Apple Music
Daily Motion
Facebook
Flickr
Giphy
Imgur
Instagram
Pinterest
Reddit
SoundCloud
Spotify
Tiktok
Tumblr
Twitch
X (formerly known as Twitter)
Vimeo
YouTube

@Lozhinge .

But as to which of those host videos I don't have accounts for any of them I don't post videos :noidea:
Not sure what else is out there and what Xenforo software can additionally host.

I can upload videos to Rumble but the link to it in the Forum displays as a link, not a video window. This is less aesthetically pleasing and attractive to readers compared to how the forum handles YouTube videos. Following a link to Rumble (or a OneDrive-hosted video) opens a browser window to the host site. YouTube videos can play in a window framed in the ParrotClub window.

My reason for asking is the problem of Rumble being blocked in some countries (or former countries in the case of the EU).
