How To Cool A Hot Gcc

Hey guys, for the last two dyas it's been pretty humid up here in Scotland and poor Cicero is suffering. He's panting, this is nothing new, he's always done it during the hottest days of the summer. He's had a nice cold bath this morning. I was wondering if it was ok to give him frozen fruit in his water bowl? I don't want to give it directly as I'm paranoid it will damage his tounge. Him and Kouki are due a check up and a nail trim anyway so will be phoning the vet later to see when I can get an appointment.

Do you guys have any other nifty tricks and tips to help make him deal with the heat a bit better. Kouki is managing fine :)

I stick ice cubes in their water bowls
fruit as long as it has had a minute or two to stand when being brought out of the freezer before being given to them should be fine. You can test it by sticking your finger on to it to make sure the fruit isn't sticking to your finger hmm wait till the initial white frost coating has dissipated if that makes any sense?
I also have bowls of water standing in front of the air purifiers (works just the same as with a fan) and the air is cooled as the water evaporates

Ok :) I will have to go get an ice cube maker, thingumajigywhatsit...my brain is not working today.
Might freeze some peppermint teacubes to make them more enticing :) They love mint tea.
Yeah, that makes sense :) I'll be off to see the horse soon so will stick an extra water bowl with frozen veggies and a bit of water in for them.

my grey loves frozen peas. i never defrost them. never stuck to tongue.
if you have a fan put some ice in front of it and that will cool the air a lot more, don't however put the fan directly blasting bird- set it at an angle.
likewise a damp cloth hung in front of an open window can cool air a fair bit.
if the sun is shining directly on his room then shut the curtains- it does help.
a water bottle frozen in freezer and popped into cage can also give a pleasant cool spot to sit near

Thanks, I've opened the front door and the back door and my room door and my bedroom windows so there is quite the breeze zooming through the house :) It just means they will have to stay in the cage for a while, which they are not happy about...

They have turned their pretty little beaks up at the veggies so they can't be that hot :p

I'm going to nip over to Heron frozen foods as they sell large bags of ice cubes really cheaply instead of having to wait for my freeze in a little tray that does flipping 12 cubes at a time that's not enough to. I used to use ice cube bags … but as have been keeping to my new years resolution regarding recycling and plastic reduction refuse point blank to buy another box of them …. hard not to give in on this one especially since its so hot

Lows of 18c tonight. Popped an ice pack ontop of a towel above the place where they sleep. Should hopefully ease the heat somewhat for them.
I'll be sleeping without a duvet...
