This Hoopoe ......
Stands around listening for a minute or two....

Then it sticks its beak in to the soil and probes around for a tasty snack

Then when it finds something (this was a leatherjacket - a crane fly larvae) they stab it a couple of times and clean it up then throw it in the air and swallow it!

And every so often ... you stretch and flick your crest up!!

On holiday in France we used to hear them, never seen before though. Great pics and fabulous bird. OMG if you had such a visitor to your garden, would be cock a hoop.
 
In a village near to harewood Leeds a place called crompton it was on the village sports field.
 
Your kidding.... I am just a happy snapper if the pictures come out then great if not then maybe next time
I'm always awestruck by Roz's piccies the clarity and sharpness she gets is amazing.
