His N' Hers Foraging Bowls...

Formerly known as jumbo cat litter trays before we bought them! This is what Gary and Bebe have their breakfast of Harrisons served in. They love it! [emoji1]

What a great idea :)
I have a couple of those corner sand chinchilla baths that clip to the side of the cage and have filled them with water for the gang to have playtime with might just pop dried stuff in it like you have instead of ending up mopping the floor

Mine sort of look like this ..... but they are larger and a lot tougher .... think they were designed for chinchillas or perhaps rabbits not so sure ....

This looks really cool! You suggested this for Ellie, I understand what you mean now! I was wondering do you not have a problem with your parrots pooping in the trays as they are on the floor? Or stepping in poop and flipping the trays over when they are down there?

Placing the dish away from an edge or away from a perch should be fine. with the macaw it may pay to use a heavy tray if your bird start to tip the contents out; I use a large china dog bowl for Jackie that is quite heavy but a baking dish is fine for Nobby and Bailey.

Like has been said, we position them away from the perches as much as possible. There are the occasional 'accidents' but we just scoop out and clean the affected area. The larger wood pieces get cleaned with F10 periodically to be on the safe side and we just replace the chips as they tend to end up on the very bottom of the cage due to their sifting. The birds are strong enough to slide the trays, but can't tip them up. We had started out with cat litter trays as you would have seen in the thread, so maybe you could try that to get her used to the foraging? Best of luck!
